    Darth Vader.

    However...Hans Landa...from Inglorious Basterds...is slowly gaining ground...what a delicious and villainous performance from Christoph Waltz...

      For best nazi villian that guy in Shindlers List was nasty too.

      I think he'd give the Inglorious Basterds guy a run for his money

        Well...that one was based on a real person (portrayed by Ralph Fiennes)..so yes...definitely up there too...perhaps even more than Hans Landa...at least Hans Landa was personable...

          Brick Top from Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels or T-Bag from Prison Break. SciFi-wise, probably Darth Vader. Also, Grahame Coats from Anansi Boys is definitely up there.

            wow, it's hard to choose, since in many cases a great villain makes a mediocre hero greater! Sadly, the good ones are overused...but I guess I'd say:

            Comics - Ming the Merciless
            Books- The Sheriff of Nottingham
            Movies- Goldfinger
            TV- The Riddler

              Yeah, Hans Landa is so scary as a "real life" villain, but for me it will always be Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music. That movie gives me the creeps! And those singing kids..aaaargh....

                  That would be Amon Göth who was commandant of the Nazi concentration camp at Płaszów. Without getting too deep into what horrible acts he committed against my people I will just say that I personally consider him an evil, sick SOB rather then a villain. But Mikey hit it right on the head mentioning him as he is the top non-fiction villian on this list;

                  AFI's 100 Years...100 Heroes and Villains - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

                  Thankfully he was executed by hanging on September 13, 1946 after being found guilty of killing tens of thousands of people of which many were Jews. He allegedly shot over 500 Jews just by himself. I hope he is burning in hell!

                  On a lighter note my favorite is Julie Newmar's Catwoman!

                          Green Goblin, ehich should come as no surprise, followed by The Joker in comcis. For movies, it's Robert Mitchum from Night of the Hunter.

                              My favorite villains are the ones you find yourself begrudgingly rooting for... like Alex De Large from "Clockwork Orange" or Ben Linus from "Lost". I really love the Game of Thrones books, and about half the characters I despised at the beginning, I now am won over. It is an odd thing.
