    Toys featured in "Godzilla's Revenge"

I remember watching GR way back in the early 70s and seeing the boy in it playing with some really cool Godzilla toys in one scene.
Back then the only "toy" I remember beibf available was the Aurora model kit(not really a toy, but I used it as one).
I always wondered if they were mass produced in Japan, or were they made solely for the movie?
If anyone knows what I'm talking about, I'd appreciate some input.

    Thanks.

They sure WERE mass produced! Here, try this site, its one of the finest:

Club Tokyo: Godzilla, Gamera, Ultraman and Kaiju Toy, Figure, and Collectibles Reference. ISSN # 1547-8866

Also, as to Godzilla's Revenge, there sure are some great toys shown in the film. For me personally, that 'montage' during the opening credits, weird monster howls and all, is beyond cool...LOVED that as a kid!

To see some even cooler Godzilla toys, check the beginning of Godzilla v. Hedorah. The scene with the young boy playing outside on the swingset features some AWESOME Popy and Marmit stuff.

Also note the odd little differences between the various US dubs:

Ver. 1 Older brother: "Is Godzilla your favorite?" Younger brother: "Superman is too!"

Ver. 2 OB: "Ah, Godzilla's your favorite?" YB: "Superman beats them ALL!"

Talk about bringing back memories! I loved my Megos as a kid, but always yearned for a Godzilla toy after seeing them in that scene in Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster. As a "grown-up", it's been great to learn about all the Bandai, Popy, Marmit figures and pick up a few along the way.

Was it the Smog Monster movie I was thinking of were the boy is playing with them in like a playground swing set setting, or the revenge movie? It's been sooo long.

As far as mass produced, I ment way back then, in the late 60s/early 70s. I know stuff is mass produced now.

the boy playing with them on the swing set was from the Smog Monster. Yes those toys were mass produced back then, but in Japan only

Yep, there has been mass produced Godzilla toys sold in Japan since the early 60's. First Marusan manufactured model kits, then soft vinyl versions of many kaiju. Bullmark took over in the late 60's (which I believe the ones in the film were made by), Popy later in the 70's, Yamakatsu in the early 80's, then finally Bandai (right up to present day).

LOVE (and collect) the vinyl Kaiju! The Bullmarks and Popys are a bit too 'infantile' for me, almost like blast-painted baby dolls with squat pudgy limbs....I'm more into the Bandais and Yamakatsus.

I will eventually treat myself to a Bandai standard scale Megalon....but at $70-$120, its a hard sale for me...

Its great that Bandai has released many of their standard vinyls in the 6" scale, its VERY helpful for folks like me that cant spend $200 for the 'original'! (They are the SAME figures basically, only a bit smaller..)

I have some Yamakatsus and a first release 1983 Bandai Godzilla that I'm quite proud of, though most of my stuff is 10-20 years old.....Though I do have some older Ultra stuff...my oldest monster is from 1978.

I can get a few shots of my Kaiju, if anyone cares to see?

                Take care -

I never dabbled in collecting Godzilla but one time in the early 90's I found a vinyl Bandai Mecha-Kong (King Kong Escapes) for sale for $15.00 at a comic shop and I had to get it.

I wound up selling it on ebay for like $100.00 a few years ago.

Wish I bought more of them

Nice, let's see some pics! I collect the same stuff, mostly Yamkatsu and Bandai. I never cared for the Popy versions, the Marusan and Bullmark vinyls are cool from a historical perspective, but they are just too "cutesy" for my taste, and I don't really want to pay the hefty price tags most of them have, especially considering I prefer the more accurate renditions.

Here's some of mine. I have a bunch more, including most of the smaller 6" scale ones, that I just have no room for displaying. Same with a crap load of small Godzilla gashapon and candy toys that are also still packed in boxes. I need a bigger room!

Nice, I still need that one myself. You bought at a good time. The market was at it's peak around 1998-2001 or so. Some vinyls were going for crazy money back then. It's died down a bit since, but some pieces, even recent ones, can still bring a lot. For example, the Bandai Titanosaurus in my second pic came out in 2002. I bought him back then for about six bucks. He now goes for close to $100 on ebay. There was a whole rack full for sale when I bought him, I should have bought them all!

I always had a soft spot for Gorosaurus, a very under used character.
