    Sir Christopher Lee Fellowship

Sir Christopher Lee will receive the Academy Fellowship at the upcoming BAFTA ceremony (sort of like the Oscars Lifetime Achievement Award).

A well deserved honour for Count Dracula/Darth Tyranus/Saruman/Scaramanga/Lord Summerisle, etc!

On Sunday 13 February the British Academy of Film and Television Arts will present Sir Christopher Lee with the Academy Fellowship at the Orange British Academy Film Awards ceremony at London’s Royal Opera House.

Awarded annually by the Academy, the Fellowship is the highest accolade bestowed upon an individual in recognition of an outstanding and exceptional contribution to film. Previously honoured Fellows include Charlie Chaplin, Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg, Sean Connery, Elizabeth Taylor, Julie Christie, John Barry, Stanley Kubrick, Anthony Hopkins, Terry Gilliam and Judi Dench. Last year’s recipient was Vanessa Redgrave."

Incredible news! I am so glad to see Christopher Lee receive so many accolades late in his career. It's very unique to see someone's career blossom at such a late stage. It wasn't that long ago that he seemed forever attached to just Dracula. And his career regret was not accepting the role of Dr. Loomis by John Carpenter. But then came Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars. Then Harry Potter, and even Charlie and Chocolate Factory. All mega huge films with him in the center of most of them. I wonder if he still feels that way about the Dr. Loomis character?

And he's 89 now. I think they want to give it to him before he goes to The Other Side.

A great actor, well deserved, and I wish he had been involved in a lot better films during his long career. Sure, he made some classics, but of his 200+ movies, he also made some real stinkers. Believe me, I saw them...
And he is the first to admit it. I recently read his biography, which is a fantastic read! The man lead a fascinating life, ever more so off-screen...

At his age with as much Green Screen work he's been doing I wonder if he know WHAT film he's even acting in.

I think my Favorite was where he played a school headmaster. I think there were Dinosours in it. 1990's?

Didnt know about Dr Loomis. Never heard of someone regreting turning down a Horror role.
Well, other than Bela and Frankenstien.

Sad to say, but time has now really caught up with him. He looked so frail and weak. He could hardly walk, and couldn't lift up the Bafta trophy.
I know, he's 89, but only last year he still looked like a giant.
I'm afraid it's the end of an era...
