He was one of the very best blues/rock guitarists ever, and sadly wasn't very well known overall in the States. I was turned on to him, both as a solo artist and with Thin Lizzy, in my late teens and he wound up being a big influence on me. I'm really sad to see him go, especially since I never got the chance to hear him live.
Speaking of Lizzy, I read a Scott Gorham interview. He wrote the 2nd series of notes after the 1st chord to The Boys are back in Town. But never got any royalties. He came over from So Cal because he was impressed by the bands happening in England. The audition was at an African restauraunt & he walked in & there were people wearing African clothes & the 1st guy he sees he says; Can you get me a coffee & tell me where the audition is?
