A Snow Story from Chicago: Pizza Delivery Man Gets Stuck in Snow in front of My House

Thought we'd get pizaa delivered tonight because of the snow here in Chicago.

We always "pick up" but due to the snow we elected to have it delivered.

I gave the guy an $8 tip for coming out in this crap. As he is leaving he discovers he is stuck in a snow drift in front of my home.

My 2 olderst sons shovel and push the car out of the drift just as I am arriving with the snowblower

The pizza guy gievs my boys $10 for the assist.

Poor guy lost on the deal

Respectfully... it was discourse about the definitions of kindness,
ethics and heroism among other things.

The Museum and it's moderators have my support, as it's their place after
all, but I'd like to give saildog a nod of respect as well.

And I'll most certain say that my dander was not up in the slightest because everyone in this thread is someone I consider a "friend" and the discussion was, in my estimation, friendly "hashing out" of the subject at hand.

Believe me, Hue and I have more than enough discussions and exchanges of mutual respect to disagree on any given subject without it ever being personal.

To all readers, that deletion included Austin's honest admission that he didn't realize his boys had taken the money under the circumstances and his sincere resolution that he would make good on the discrepancy. That got deleted in and amongst the boring back and forth between Hue and myself. I find that "covering" counter to what Austin may have meant with this thread.

Please...point out to me any thread on this board that does not wander off topic and show me ONE that gets censored for that offense. Hell, they all go off topic. Being mean or political or religious......well that is one thing, but going off topic as a means to insert Mod powers???? When do you see that exercise of power without warning? How about a, "Hey get back on topic!". I've seen that before.........from members......before Mods had to get involved.

I can respect the fact that no one wants to read what Hue and I were back and forthing on, but it really was related to the subject, in no way argumentative or disrespectful to Austin, and certainly not worthy of deletion. No one may have wanted to read it, but it was no different than Hector or Mikey wading into a thread with their opinions to the contrary. (Having said that, I love and respect both Hector and Mikey and realize that stating any opinion on this board requires being able to back it up and a willingness to be called on the carpet.)

The exchange got singled out, and though I think it was to make a point of some kind, I don't think it was personal. It was what it was.

I've been a good dude for most of my life and this is one of those moments I choose to make a stand.

The deletion was without merit and a safe place to make a Mod stand, given what flies here, and while I appreciate what the Mods have to put up with this was, in my opinion, a very safe place for them to make an exemplary stand....and since it was deleted it leaves all of you to wonder at the offense. Well, it's gone but I promise you it was certainly less offensive than any other of a half-a-dozen threads you just waded in from....threads that will go on and on....the timing was just coincidental with something else and that equals arbitrary.

I agree whole heartedly with ALL of this...

AND the reason I even bother posting this is just a bit reminder to the
mods and the posters here that I (a longtime member) feel I need some
slack SOME times w/out being reprimanded and/or censored.

The ironic thing is that me and saildog are probably the ones with the
least friction between us out of anybody involved.

Just goes to show how crazy the stuff can be 'round here.
