    The Peacock is Dead

Saw this story and it further intensifies my belief that broadcast as we have known it is dead and buried. So long big "3" hello big "bazillion"

NBC Universal now NBCUniversal under Comcast - Yahoo! Finance

It's still alive "The bird will remain part of the brand of NBC, the broadcaster, while the spinning globe will still be part of the graphic for Universal, the movie studio and theme park operator"

and NBC and Universal have been in bed together since the 60's

That's been written in the wall since the advent of bandwidth and public use.
Even MS knew of this back in 1997 when they bought into the company but later sold their share in 2009 because their lackluster products that Comcast didn't really implement nationally. Now looks as if Comcast will be in a position to take over MS now that they've secured NBC but not much for MS to offer these days other than gaming.
Curious to see who AT&T and Verizon team up with or buy out. AT&T have copper lines while Verizon has fiber or FIOS.
Now that a single pipe going into people homes is more manageable than airwaves, curious to see how monitoring and capping comes into play when people become dependent on this pipeline. WiFi isn't exactly hack proof or healthy.
Interesting the way we consume media is evolving.

All the BIG original three Networks (ABC, NBC, CBS) have been dead to me for years...the only thing I watch from them is the NFL.

Fox is a little more bearable...but I'm now strictly a cable viewer.

The days of the "Big 3" will probably be looked back as if it were the stone age now. Comcast is smart to keep the brand names and logos of the entities they bought. Unless they can produce something better or make their own more recognizable. Not crazy about the merger tho. They're bound to start making mad changes.

I'm sad there's no more Big 3, b/c they brought us:

            Circus of the Stars
            Battle of the Network Stars
            Fall preview specials
Saturday morning cartoons, Krofft and Filmation
            ABC's Wide World Of Sports
            NBCs Wonderful World of Disney
            Six Million Dollar Man
            Bionic Woman
            Happy Days
            Good Times
            Star Trek
            Planet of the Apes
            The 4:30 Movie
            Charlie Brown/ Rankin Bass specials
            The Wizard Of Oz

These are things we looked forward to annually and weekly. Network TV provided all of us w/ a commonality that we would talk about at school, at work and at family get-togethers. Today there so many choices, (not to mention DVD, VHS and Blu-ray), that chances are you and your kids probably don't watch the same things your co-workers, your schoolmates and neighbors.

            Kinda sad, really.

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
