    The Little Rascals/Our Gang

It's confusing. There are so many DVD's out there of The Little Rascals and what I am primarily interested in is getting the shorts that were constantly syndicated in the early 1970's with Alfalfa, Spanky, Darla, etc and i know there were so many besides those.

Any DVD set out there that highlights those, preferably with the "Little Rascals" title cards intact?

I think Cosby owns the rights to all these and he feels Buckwheat is racist so he will not allow them to be released. I could be wrong

Surely not. That sounds like it belongs in the Urban Legends thread.

Not true...definitely a myth. He's never owned any of the Little Rascals shorts.

Thank God I bought the Laserdisc Box sets way back when...I've heard that the DVD's are edited as to be not offensive. Don't know that as a fact. I know that they have edited the hell out of the Tom and Jerry cartoons.

          Isn't it a pity".

There are the spotlight collections for Tom and Jerry which contain disclaimers but show racially sensitive material. However, early versions of the sets still contained edits and Warner had to do an exchange program to keep good on their promise of unedited shorts.

I took advantage of the exchanges and have the uncut shorts.

the Warner bros archive collection has some sort of uncut 5 disc set
Our Gang Comedies (52 Shorts 1938-1942) DVD - Warner Bros. Archive: WBshop.com - The Official Online Store of Warner Bros. Studios

Also the not so recent MGM box set is edited to hell despite it claiming otherwise. Also for the regular and later shorts-- the "Cabin fever" box sets (vhs) are fully uncut

as are the older Image little rascal laserdisc box sets

I love the Little Rascals. I've had the pleasure of meeting Porky, Butch, Jackie, & Echo.

I might be wrong as well but there were a lot of older shows who lost their copyright protection because the companies who owned them allowed them to lapse. They didn't think that the properties would be worth anything so they just let them go. That's why you will see DVD's from some old tv shows selling for $1 on DVD. Some random company just grabs them and burns them onto a DVD without any kind of recourse (and still makes money). Again, I'm not sure if this is true for Our Gang but am positive this happened with some other shows.
