    My little vistors

Three of these little fellows visit me every so often. Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough and two of them flew away before I got my camera. I always thought Crows were beautiful birds.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I think so too, they have a certain magnificence about them. There was one flying around here yesterday. They always seem mysterious to me, like they are messengers carrying a secret.

We've got Ravens that come everyday to eat out on our hill, they don't care much for bird seed, they love chicken fat and potatoe chips.

The crows around me are very timid

When I feed them in the winter (throw some bread out) blue jays constantly chase them away.

Well there where two by me that should be shot!

Both of them attacked, killed & ate two baby morning doves while the parents watched in horror!

I bought my 10 year old son his first BB gun which is the Red Ryder Carbine action (a replica from Xmas Story). I was a bit skeptical until I shot a few aluminum and steel cans from about 30 feet away and saw them pierce the cans. I do like birds in general but not crows. I am not a hunter and don't shoot for food but have given my son full reign to let
"Old Blue" take care of any crows, rabbits, etc. who want to get into our garden. It could be worse...my neighbor sets traps for rabbits and eats them. My gun comments are cheeky but this neighbor is downright strange. We live in a suburban housing development with 1/2 acre lots. His veggie garden sits just a fence line away from me but I don't set traps or anything.

Sorry. Someone had to say it.

So would I be correct to assume that if his gun can pierce a can, it can most certainly pierce a bird or animal and leave it wounded, if not dead (which it would be much better off than the former)?
