For myself, there has to be something redeeming in why I still like a show from my childhood. A good example is the '67 Spider-man cartoon. When I was a kid, it was incredible because Spider-man had never been on television before. The music, voices, and characters were so enchanting to me as a kid, I could never get enough. When I finally got to see them later as an adult back in the 90's, I was a little taken back by the crudeness of the animation, since my childhood memories painted a better picture. But the music (all of it) and the voices were great. I LOVED the backgrounds and still found them enjoyable to look at. It's like looking at a lost art form that is still pleasing to the eye. So while I like it now for different reasons, plus the nostalgia of it, I can see why it was so pleasing to me as a kid. That and my kids love it too. That speaks volumes right there. Good execution and good ideas remain good over time, even if better techniques take their place.Last edited by Joe90; Jan 18, '11, 10:11 PM.90, Joe 90.... While I find it impossible to ignore some stuff as being goofy it's still 70's (or early 80's as the case may be) goofy which makes it fun. I willing to cut something a lot of slack if I grew up watching it.Comment

I still enjoy them just like way back when. Saturday morning cartoons FOREVER!Comment

I do wish kids today had the Saturday morning lineup we all enjoyed as kids...ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS...nothing like it today...I blame Nickelodeon and the Cartoon Network for that....as well as video games, internet, syndicated cartoons, animé, and overseas animators.Last edited by Hector; Jan 19, '11, 1:48 AM.sigpicComment

Pretty much anything on demand at any time. That is one piece of nostalgia that I miss. That is the anticipation of looking forward to the following Saturday, watching your favorite shows with limited choices. We all grew up with basically the same show selections to choose from. Now they are endless. My daughter doesn't really watch cartoons much (she never did) but my boys really like anime (the last airbender, etc.). The one cartoon that I think will stand the test of time is Spongebob Squarepants. That cartoon is very funny even to an adult. I always know a show will stay in our kids collective memories when I see them quoting from the show."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."
