"the tractor-trailer was carrying mostly statements and bills bound for the West Coast. He added that he didn't think any personal mail was lost."
Like this makes it ok. Sounds like some high potential for identity theft, or other related shenanigans."Steel-like jaws clacked away, each bite slashing flesh from my body - I used my knife and my hands, and when they were gone, my bloody stumps - and yet the turtles came." -

Wouldn't it suck if you really did get an eBay purchase lost due to that truck?--

I can remember a postal worker getting busted for throwing away mail in the early 90's. I think it was in Columbia, MD, during a really hot stretch of the summer. He was apparently just dumping it out in the woods and someone came across piles and piles of undelivered mail.Comment

He probably should have allowed the damage control police to make a statement. I swear something is going on in the mail system right now that is messed up. I have a fairly small dollar item that was bought from a seller in Germany in early December and I still haven't received it!!! I have purchased items from this Ebay'er for years and he is about as honest as they get. He told me he mailed it on December 9th but didn't send it registered because it was a low cost item and registered mail is expensive. I also had another item that I had to send back to a different seller because it was not in as described condition. She seems honest enough...I have delivery confirmation and it shows delivered on January 7th but she says she doesn't have it. I feel bad if this is true but don't think I should have to bear the cost of this since she asked for it back (I even offered to buy it at a reduced price and would just put on Ebay and save us both the trouble) and said she would refund the money plus shipping. After communication back and forth; I finally told her that I was sorry but feel like I did everything I was asked and it does say "delivered" and have requested a refund and suggested she talk to the local postal inspector about it. I have yet to get a response or the refund."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."
