    Holocaust - The Minseries

Anyone ever see the 1978 miniseries Holocaust? It really affected me back in 1978 when it was on TV. I found an import DVD 3 or 4 years ago and watched it again. Even though it is quite dated, I still enjoyed watching it. Just pulled it off the shelf again and it still holds up well for me. Spidey's Grandma - Rosemary Harris, and Tron's David Warner star in it and you only have to see how young Meryl Streep and James Woods look to realize how old it is. Tovah Feldshuh was one attractive lady as well.

If you have never seen it and are at all interested in the subject matter, it is a really good 9 hours. It was released on DVD in 2008 and Amazon has it for 20 bucks but I hear that almost an hour of footage was cut out. I will stick to my import.

Yes, it tells the story from the perspective of a Jewish family who go through the trials of the Holocaust and also from a down and out Lawyer who rises to prominence in the Nazi regime. Great miniseries. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the subject matter.

I had never watched "Life is Beautiful" until about a year or so ago when it was on one of the cable channels. I'm really not into foreign film and had no idea what the movie was about. I realize this is a fictional movie about life in a concentration camp but one movie that will really stir the emotions...especially if you have children.

I watched it back when it was new.

It was the first time I ever seen the guy from the old Law & Order ... and everytime I used to see him on L&O I thought of Holocust (forgot his name).

I still remember the old SNL when Bill Murray reviewed it and said it made him want to throw-up everytime he looked at his Volkswagon.

          Good movie ...
