    dilemma, mego or he-man?

    hello everyone,

My vintage he-man stuff is taking up way too much room, I have taken it all down from my toy display to make room for more mego. But I am still presented with a problem, there is so much he-man my closet can barely hold it all.
My question is (and I think I can guess what the responses are going to be), should I sell it all (at least most of it, keeping my personal favorites) and buy mego with the money I make, so then I can make up for all the empty space I have?
I would just sell them and buy Mego like I have done with my ninja turtle and transformer collection (see what Mego has done to me?) but I am scared that one day I might regret it.
    What do you guys think?

Look at this from a collector's financial standpoint........

Seem's most collectibles selling hey-day is about 20 years after their initial toy store release.

He Man, being an 80's toy--- should put his collectible hey-day right now.

    Mego's hey-day has long past.

I'm no money making genius, but it seems the best time to sell your He Mans is now.

    Just an observation.

You should post your question at the He-man Museum (or whatever it may be called) too, so that you can get a more balanced answer. Nah, not really, just sell them. I had some common, loose He-man stuff that I sold on ebay about three or four years ago and did surprisingly well with them, so you should be able to make some bucks.

I also collect He-Man but not the whole line. If I were you I'd for sure keep the figures and grayskull from the first two years maybe the random htf later figures like Randor etc. and sell the rest. IMO after the first couple years the figures got really lame stinkor, Leech come to mind

what matters is the condition of the He-Man toys really. Loose they area dime a dozen and you won't pull that much anyway to sell them.

Like RussG said, I'd definitely hang onto any of the rarer stuff you've got, or things that are in extremely nice condition. I know Grayskull's a pain to try and complete because of that one little laser pistol, and I've not seen a complete Snake Mountain (with the wrist manacles) for some time. I'd definitely find somewhere to store an Eternia playset, too.

Well being an 80's kid I love He-man and would hold on to them if they were carded as they keep rising in price,a carded He-man goes anywhere from $250-$550 and some rarer figures like Scare glo,King Randor and Faker but if they are loose you could sell them, you just won't get a lot back

Amen! And since I'm not an 80s baby, I vote He-Man goes too!

I always fall back on the old adage: "Collect what you like."

If you love your He-Man. Keep it. Nothing wrong with it.

However if you find you no longer have the passion you used to, that's a different thing. But be sure.

Me, I jump between passions every so often. One month it's all mego, one month it's all GI Joe, one month it's all Stikfas... but I never quit one over another. I just take small breaks and then I come refreshed, ready for more collecting goodness.

So pretty much, be sure before doing something you can't undo.

yes russ, I agree with you completely, I LOVE the first figures, I will never part with skeletor, he-man, orco, man-at-arms, etc, but honestly, about 80% of my collection is leech, stinkor, kobra khan, rokkon and other characters which NO ONE has ever heard of or seen because they are so silly.
I will be hanging on to the playset's too as they are just too cool. Thanks for the advice though guys, they will be going bye-bye any day now. Hello more mego!
