So I decided to stay home today. Job called me up at 6AM and said they were gonna open up at 12PM...By 11:30 AM I was SPENT shoveling my driveway. All we were gonna do is clean up anyway at the Plumbing Supply that I work for. Decided to take a day without pay. I don't know about how people feel about there jobs...but there's NO WAY I'm gonna possibly risk my life driving to work with 10 inches of snow on the ground. Don't have a big 4 X 4...just a little Hyundai Elantra.

I drive 57 miles each way. If we get just a little ice or snow Jimmy doesn't drive to work. Mind you I'm in TX and we don't get much of the frozen precip, but when it does come in ANY significant quantity I stay home!My Custom Figures

Just look at the news around Atlanta. 3 days of ice and still major wrecks everywhere. I shoveled 3-4" of ice off my driveway. The secondary roads are still covered in ice. The highways and major roads keep getting closed!
Stay home!Too many toys. Not enough space!Comment

We were supposed to get a heavy snow storm and it didn't happen. It was supposed to be in the 20's and it is 50 right now. They put chains on a lot of the public buses in anticipation and didn't need them.Comment

To all I say, stay home when the weather is like this. There is no job nor amount of money that is worth your life. I also have a rule of thumb that I have always followed... if the "boss" insists I come in on a snowy / icy day I ask him point blank and very seriously, "Will you be the one replacing my car?" That normally ****es 'em of but I really don't care. As the old saying goes "I was looking for a job when I found this one."Comment

Central Ohio got 3-4" of powder yesterday, which is just the right amount. The roads aren't too bad, but it's still enough to play in.
Last month I built a sled ramp out of plywood - about 3 feet high, with about a 35 degree slope. I have it at the top of a 25-30 foot hill in my back yard. We can now get a pretty nice sled ride down the hill by using the ramp.
The only problem is that at the bottom of the hill is my deck, and some decent sized rocks lining the drainage area underneath. So, at the bottom of the hill along the edge of the deck, I have a line of trash cans, boxes & milk crates covered by a tarp (very classy). The neighbors probably hate me.Comment

we got about 13 inches here in the mid hudson valley.....still took me about 2 hours to clear the driveway and walkway with the snow blower.....it's not even mid January and I am realdy having trouble place the snow....it's just piling to high in some areas....kids are having a blast tunneling through it thoughComment

I was out in the middle of it about 5:30am and thought, "what the heck am I doing out here" (nothing was shoveled, yet), but I was almost to the train, so I went to work.
