I kept thinking it started back in '68, but those were just the pilots filmed with various family names and actors being tried out.

Richard Dreyfus was gunning for the role of 'Michael'...

I'm still looking for some nice 'Archie Bunker for President' glasses.

I'd heard that Harrison Ford also auditioned for Mike and that Alan Hale Jr. Was offered the Archie Bunker role, but turned it down due to the language and bigotry.

George Jefferson was much better when he was on AITF....Henry Jefferson was also a riot!

The things I didn't like about "The Jeffersons" were many....not a fan of Florence, the whole Willis thing, the 2nd Lionel. In fact the only characters besides George that I liked were Mr. Bentley and Mother Jefferson.

Last time I tried to watch it I found it severely dated. I liked it in the day.
All those Norman Lear shows seem out of place today to me but I still get a hoot from Sanford & Son for some reason.
I remember getting "Archie Bunker for President" junk from the gumball machine.

I absolutely adore Sanford and Son. Brilliant show... I'm working on some customs.

Cool, watched this a lot as a kid... and then years later saw the British show it was based on, "Till Death us Do Part".
