    Luck to stay at Stanford

Wow, he is a better person then me. I would have jumped ship for the NFL in his shoes. Good for him

I think it's a terrible move. Carolina already said they would take him #1. His stock can only go down from here he could also get injured. You can always go back to school, but you may only ever have one shot at being a number 1 draft pick.

I was also shocked. I don't know his reasons but I have to respect his decision. I wonder who Carolina will now take as their first pick?

With their needs, I would say A.J. Green.

Um, yeah...I wouldn't want to play for the Panthers either. Smart move if he has any interest in a long-term NFL career. Going to a 1-2 win team and starting immediately rarely works out (Troy Aikman is an exception) and there is no one for him to play behind as a mentor. Besides being unsure about a CBA, most money is made in the second contract.

lol Bradfords deal last year 50 million guaranteed and a six-year deal worth $76 million, with a maximum value of $86 million. With a signing bonus of $17.974 million. That was to a 1-15 team. They almost made the playoffs this year.

Just my opinions, but Smith is done and Green is going to be huge. Carolina has a good ground game so no backs. The other thing they need is a pass rusher, so they could go that way.

I think Newton may fall to ten to the Redskins.

Yep, forgot about Bradford. Good catch. But I think STL has way more talent than Carolina. The Panthers are a mess.

I don't profess to be a NFL-capologist but I think players actually do make more money in the second contract. That's the primary reason Jake Locker stayed here at UW to enjoy his Senior season instead of coming out last year. He would have gotten paid no doubt but he can make up the money he lost w/o last years contract by signing a bigger deal after his rookie deal is up.

I would've taken the money, slacked off and been the biggest bust in the history of the league, and laughed all the way to the bank. And then I probably would've moved to a country where they don't care about the NFL so I didn't have to hear about it.

I'm sure he could have pulled an Eli Manning move. Eli refused to play for San Diego. I don't remember the exact deal but I think San Diego picked Eli first, the Giants took Phillip Rivers and arranged a trade. In retrospect, it seems like a pretty even trade. I don't know how they stack up on paper but Rivers seems to be as good of QB as Eli and maybe even better.
