wait a year and you will be able to purchase those for half the price. As big a SW fan as I am I have no plans to purchase these. I have them all on DVD and doubt the picture quality has been that much improved to make it worthwhile

I'll let you know but I expect a nice improvement. DVD's just don't look quite as smooth, even with players that interpolate the resolution of the signal. Blu-ray has that "I feel like I am looking through a window at this" quality. Even if they use the same exact source for the blu-ray and DVD, I still like that "pure" look of blu-ray.

I think they will look very nice too. Fox's Blu-ray release of the Alien films provided a big improvement over DVD, so I'd expect at least the same with the SW films. If nothing else, Phantom Menace (no matter what your feelings are toward the film itself) should be a huge improvement, because frankly, the current DVD looks absolutely terrible by today's standards.

I'm behind the curve...I just bought Star Wars for the first time on DVD (it contains the original theatrical release not just the re-do crap)...Before that I was still rewinding the VHS

I like the special editions - for the most part - nothing wrong with improving the effects and adding in some cut scenes....i wish the blu ray release was putting the deleted scenes back in instead of just as an extra, then I might actually buy it.

If Lucas is not releasing the theater cuts of the original trilogy in Blu Ray dont care for the pre-quals in any form passing

That's it then, I'll need an HDTV and Blu-Ray player by September.

(It's always SW releases that make me finally adopt new tech. Waited until the SW soundtracks were released on CD before I got a CD player, waited until SW was released on DVD before I got a DVD player, etc.)

I will definitely be buying these on Bluray...but not right away. I already own the SE & regular Editions on DVD...so I'm going to wait for the prices to come down.

I'm going to take a "wait and see" approach to this one. The remastered DVD's I've had for years, give me plenty of clarity on my HDTV. I'm not sure I want anything beyond that. The big one I'm waiting on is Jaws. Now THAT in Blu ray would be incredible.

ahh the latest Lucasfilm money grab. Just like 04 when they released the SE's on Dvd They'll rake in money now then remaster them again with the theatrical versions just to have people buy them AGAIN

meh, Uncle George waited too long and I'm sure there will be more changes.
If it's not theatrical release stuff....
I was once a uber die-hard sw fan, but the past decade has nearly erased it out of me.
Def wont buy the prequels on br, eventually may get the original trilogy, but only on sale or discounted/used prices.
