I think he did but there was no reason to cancel the show.

I think when the show went away in '77, McAllister was still the host. He did have several problems with Metromedia though so cancelling the show is pretty much the same thing as canning him.

To think of a few.

A show with a crappy ending. A second season made by people who obviously didnt even watch the first season and threw an ending together at the last minute...

War of the worlds.... The second season contridicted everything in the first season. Had alot of promise.
