    I finally found a cathedral radio/cassette player!

Yippee! I'm finally getting a proper cathedral radio/cassette player to play my old time radio cassettes. I moved all my tapes into the living room end table cabinet where I will display the radio, and I'm really looking forward to spending Sunday afternoons w/ The Shadow, Superman & Batman, Mark Trail, Arch Obeler and many others. I even have a set of old Star Wars shows that someone gave me many years ago. This is gonna be great.

*Please resist the urge to tell me to get these things digitized. I like my tapes, please allow me my joy! Thank you.

    Congratulations.

I still have my cassettes from Radio Spirits that I still listen to from time to time.
Read my blog at Moongem Comics about comics, toys and more.

Congrats! Looking forward to the pics.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

A cathedral radio was a style of radio that was popular in the 30s and 40s and the one I'm getting looks similar to this:

Crosley CR31 AM/FM Companion Cathedral Radio Wood NEW - eBay (item 320636818447 end time Jan-29-11 14:23:09 PST)

Holy crap, I have that right now in one of my upstairs bedrooms! I had completely forgotten it played tapes since it was used mainly as a decorative piece

I wish I had gotten a Crosley, but I got a Thomas Collection, used, but still cool.

Glad to see you got a grail piece! I have a lot of stories on tapes still, too. Superman, Jack Benny Program, a lot of star trek novels read, etc.
                        It's all good!

Woo-Hoo! It's here! My radio's here! And I ordered some new tapes to christen it, including The Green Hornet! I also ordered Superman/Batman and Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde and the Wolfman. I have lots of others. It sounds wonderful! And it just brings so much to the listening experience to hear it on an old time radio. I'm so happy I can't stand it!
