    Seizures anybody & disability info

Kinda personal question, which of course can be ignored. But I have been suffering real bad with seizures & Neurological issues for like a year straight now. Long story cut a bit short- back in 1999 i was diagnosed with a rare tumor in my right Temporal lobe of the brain. The original symptoms were massive headaches, dizzy spells and pressure in the head, which at the time i figured i had from boxing. I used to box and train daily from like age 5-30, tons of sparring, real fights and so on. As the months passed i started getting mini seizures, finally was diagnosed by MRI with that tumor. In 1999 no surgeon in las vegas or even the Myo clinic would touch it, they all said the surgery was way to risky. So from 1999-2005 i dealt the best i could with heavy medications and seizure drugs, in sept 2005 i went to UCLA and found a surgeon who was a pro at micro brain surgery, so i took the chance, had succesful surgery and was doing well from 2006 to about this time last year. Anyways the seizures returned last year, been worse and worse each month. I was laid off in June, i'm at the point where now my doctors do not want me driving. And i get seizures 3-4 times a week. So i'm only so so ok like 2 -3 days a week if lucky. I applied for disabilty, have no choice, yet they havent helped- its been like 6 mnths since I applied. All they keep doing is sending me more & more forms to fill out.

I'm just so lost and depressed. We have young children. My wife had her hours cut so she lost our health insurance. We are just about broke. Bank is super low, i have no choice but to get into my storage and sell off like all my toys. Sucks! But it will feed us for awhile.

My question i guess is does anybody here suffer from seizures? If so, what type seizures? Anybody have knowledge of disability? If you dont want to post on here you can PM me.

Please forgive my mistakes/grammar errors when posting, my brain is shot!

I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

Disability takes a very long time to get...don't sweat it.

You will get it though...it just takes time...please be patient.

So sorry about the seizures...what a bummer, man.

My daughter had a seizure last year.....which was a very scary experience. There was no causality but it was a horrible experience for me. I'm very sorry to hear about this. You might want to research the labor act (and I can't think of it off of the top of my head) that protects employees with disabilities. I don't know from your post if you were part of a massive layoff or due to the seizures. If it is due to the seizures; you probably have something to look into further (with legal advice). You also might want to find a medical professional who is experienced with boxing injuries if you have the insurance. It might not help with the problem but maybe help explain the problem.

My brother had a brain tumor, and suffered from frequent seizures. Brain chemistry is a very delicate thing. His treatment involved frequent adjustments to his medication to try to keep him balanced. Hopefully, your doctor will be able to help things by tweaking your meds or dosage.

Hang in there. Hopefully things will turn around for you soon.

I had one in the early 90's and have taken various medication. The seizure I had was in my sleep and called petit mal. The the only thing isI can say if find the best doctor you can. I went through a few (in the same building/practice) until I found a great one who got me on different medication I don't have to take as often. The point being the original and subsequent doctors were lackluster. The first doctors went "by the book" and really did nothing to improve my condition. My current one knew his stuff and got me in a better place. My condition is/was not as serious as yours though.

Stay strong. You'll get through this. It sounds like you have a pretty good support system.

Thanks to all above for all the support and kind words. Thanks to those who messaged me.

Well since my original post besides seizures now add in 2 fractured ribs!! This is nuts. But I had a seizure in my sleep late Saturday night, i woke up very sick, dizzy was throwing up and fell and slammed my right rib cage into the rim of the toilet bowl! I heard the crack and was like oh Sh...! Went to my doctor and he basically said theres nothing he can do, gave me some pain killers and said give it 6-8 weeks. So now its hard to laugh, cough, almost do anything at all.

Next week I see a new Neurologist for other opinions. And I have not heard back from disability.

Thanks again, hope you all are safe!
