For a year now (just before my deployment..), my church had accepted my offer for me to play 'Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring' on my classical guitar.
This weekend.
So I've been working as a duet with this pianist for the last month and I'll be presenting it today at one of the services, then three times tomorrow (three services in the morning..).
I know I've driven my wife nuts with being up most nights to practice it.. I have it down pretty well, but I haven't been on stage before an audience for a while, so wish me luck.. It's a fingerpicken' monster.
Well, relieved to say, I now have my 'free time' back..!!!
I could always practice/perform it well in the company of a few folks, but playing it in last night's and this morning's first service were.., eh..
The 2nd and 3rd service this morning were MUCH better.. Not to toot my horn, but it does take some serious 'fortitude' to self-learn it, then perform it on stage in front of a few thousand folks.., no feedback, no tricks to save your backside.
Luckily I had the pianist to reach some of the high triplets, which was what I had intended originally.. Now, back to serious 'Mego-ing'..
