Write your congressman to demand stiffer penalties for dogfighting. The guy got a longer sentence than usual for the crime--that's not good enough for you, then work to change the law--He's done his time and deserves to make a living. I hate animal cruelty but I also hate a society that won't let people move on with their lives after they've been incarcerated.

I do hope he doesn't make it to the Super Bowl, because I don't want to hear about this through the whole post-season.

Sorry - just tired of the Vick-bashing...
He did pay his debt..and good for him. But it's hard for me to forget that he and his co-horts would pick up and slam the dogs on concrete to death, hang the dogs and beat them with steel pipes..all the while they are screaming and wondering what they did wrong. There are other things they did to torture the dogs that I wont write here that are easy to find on line. I hold grudges on that sort of thing. May God forgive me for that...but I cannot let that go and I dont believe Vick deserves the fruitfulness of the NFL's wealth...Just me.

He's a QB and RB put into one, he's an amazing talent , they should hold off when it's this close to see who get's further into the play offs and not to mention those numbers are in 3 1/2 less games then Brady!!

MegoScott - Sorry to disagree, but "the right to make a living"....really??

I suppose then that it would be no different if I went ahead and tortured the neighboor's kids, ignoring their screams of agony because I'm a heartless monster, so long as I got my few months at club fed, eh? It's different because they are DOGS in question?

Sorry - dont believe in the "second chance" rap for certain cases...just doesnt hold water. My uncle is a retired NYPD officer, and I gotta tell ya man, some folks cant BE "rehabilitated'. In the same vein, maybe Dhamer or that 'BTK' filth could have done well with some counselling or a bit of prison time?

Nope - not buyin it - evil is EVIL, only takes a decent heart to see that.

PETA actually has volunteers in what they call their 'night squads' that are ready to take Vick off the mortal coil... Personally, I do not support this. No, a firearm just wont do, I'd rather that he was MADE to feel at least a SMALL bit of the terror that he inflicted, and TRUST me, I would PAY to have this honour...

When I was 22 I served 18 months probation for assault, for throwing a walking disease through a laundromat window. He was hitting his dog in the chest with a stick, out in plain view of everyone, and not one person did a damned THING. Well, I had to pay for that window, and the probate wasnt a pleasure either. I'll tell you though, I'd do it again in a second...the LOOK on this grub's FACE when his back hit that floor, he was looking up at me like I was the embodiment of GOD'S WRATH...his poor black lab might not have been able to do it, thats why there needs to be decent humans....I thought that this was what good people were supposed to do?

Maybe not, its hard to say these days in 'organized sports' - maybe we are SUPPOSED to idolize torturers, villians, rapists, crack heads, and roid-ragers? None for me, thanks....I see no 'strength' there at all, nothing to 'idolize', only pathetic spinelessness....

Easy man, I'm not some sort of whacko... I just cant and wont sit idly by while UGLY things happen, not if I can prevent them. I think that too many people turn the other way and say "eh, not my business" or poo-poo the gravity of various situations. "He got himself into it..." "Eh, they are just arguing, couples do that.." "Well, it's HIS dog.." NOPE, sorry, what if it were YOU or YOURS in peril?

One way that I like to think of it is like this: If MY wife, family, dogs, etc. were crying out in need in the night, I'd sure as hell want for the "nosy stranger" to intervene!

Another prime example of this - listening to the neighboor essentially BEATING his wife at 2 AM one night...my gut told me to make a housecall....I'll spare the details.

There isnt anything wrong with doing the right thing, however emphatically.

I understand your thinking and feelings on this. I have 3 dogs now and a cat. I have a side pet business. I love animals.

There are accused rapists, murders, and wife beaters playing in the NFL. How would you single out a man that was convicted and served his time, much more than you or I would have, over these other crimes against people. While I detest it, there are places in the south and around the world that have no feeling for animals. It is part of their culture and how they are raised. Look at **** fighting. In the certain countries they eat dogs and cats. They are not looked at, how we look at them.

EVERYONE said Vick was through, maybe some team would pick him as a kick returner. Well he spent 2 years away from the game, really three and comes back like a hurricane. He is the MVP, the MVP goes to the guy who's team would not be where they are without him. And Philly would not be NFC conference championship bound team with out Vick.

NE would still be in the playoffs.

well said and exactly what I was about to point out, a drunk WR kills an innocent man who's walking home in the early hours of the morning and get's what? 1 year? and no one even mentions the guy...I hate what he did and always will ( I'm an animal lover myself) but that should not come between someone winning an MVP or not

I doubt they would've voted for him regardless, but we all know he deserves it...The guy is the most dangerous player in the NFL

I'm puzzled by the constant comparisons of Vick to stuff other NFL players have done. The WR who got drunk and hit someone cooperated fully the entire way through, was genuinely remorseful (and NOT because/after he got caught), and even faced the family of the man he killed. Doesn't mean I don't think it was a terrible thing, but it doesn't compare to Vick's situation.

Vick didn't get two years for dogfighting- he got that sentence for FEDERAL conspiracy charges and he got a stiffer sentence because he initially LIED. People make it out like the cops busted a backyard figthing ring and Vick happenned to be there and was made an example of. That's just not the case. He ran a multi-state ring and lied about it, only showing any remorse when it was obvious they had him dead to rights. And we haven't even gotten to the torturing/killing part, and he's still guilty as hell.

The killing of the dogs is what sticks in my craw. Do you think the guy who drove drunk, hit his wife, etc. woke up in the morning with the conscious intent to do that? Do you think he was looking forward to it? Do you think he and his buddies routinely got together to do that for sport and recreation? The thing that separates Vick from the rest is the forethought and malice to do what he did, and in my mind that invalidates the "well, so and so did such and such" argument outright.

Has he paid his debt? Maybe? Does he have the right to earn a living? Sure. Is it sickening to see him put on a pedestal because he can run and throw a ball, and to hell with everything else about the man? Yeah, that bugs me.

Just my take; your mileage may vary.
