Back to the Future II is not far from today!

Feeling my age tonight. I was watching AMC's Back to the Future movies when they started Future II. This story takes place waaaaaaaaaay into the future...of 2015. Only four years away. Isn't that funny? The proposed future in 1985 isn't even close to the reality of today. There's even a Jaws 19 in hologram! It made me think how often we over shoot the technology of our future when projecting those events in movies. Yes, some things have changed. But cosmetically we're not much different looking from 1985. Ad laptops and cell phones and your about there.

I was just laughing at this a few months ago when it aired on that ion station.

the fact it's so close to modern times and almost nothing fits or will fit lol ... that and it's not that great of a movie when looked at next to the first one lol.

The reality (via the commentary) is that the director/writers KNEW that
predicting the future was a stupid idea so they did what made for a
good movie device..... instead of 'accuracy" they went for something
      markedly better: JOKES.

That is very true Huedell. I think the very first bit of irony I got was with 'Escape from New York'. What was their future? 1999? In retrospect, it may not be a bad idea. But then again I loved New York when I was going to art school in Dover New Jersey. The bridge into the city, wasn't that far away. But what a cultural shock for a boy from Louisville. I remember sitting around with this kid from the Bronx. We were talking about things we always wanted to do. His dream was having a big field to throw a football in. I said, " You would get your fill in Louisville." The irony still strikes me to this day. How we can live in the same country, yet exist in environments that seem world's apart. But I digress.

You have to feel sorry for the Cubs. Still haven't won that World Series yet.

They got a few things right though, the flat TV's, the multiple channels, etc.

Jaws 19 was a Hologram but look at the movies today: most films are moving towards 3D presentation anyway. 5 more years -what else could they offer?
