I would not wrap them in paper towels if you're going to store them for a while.

Paper towels contain acid --- a big enemy in the fight to preserve.

I love it when people call them "figs". I do that, too.

Whats with this 'acid-free' and 'clamshell' stuff....I thought you guys LOVED Megos...Why do you want to IMPRISON and/or SUFFOCATE them - ?!

I must be a rare loon here, cause my Megos are everywhere...hanging from the walls, some in open crates, some just hanging out in the closet shelves....hell, I even have my Hulk atop the Christmas tree, and one of my Tomlands is sitting next to our cereal boxes waving at me! I carry them with me, take them to gigs/friends' houses, in the car, etc...basically I treat them just as I did as a kid, only a bit more gently. I get the most amusing looks and comments from the general public, almost always a positive response, when the see the Neptunian or Spidey waving at them from the dash. Also, they work as a great 'homing beacon' to other interested folks - kind of like the Bat Signal/Free Mason's Ring - "Hey! MegoMuseum!"
A display that looks like a department store (packaged/hanging) can be VERY neat to look at, dont get me wrong, but after a while, for me personally, they begin to look sterile and unfriendly. My wife tore open a 'Bubble Power She-Ra' a while back, and I myself ripped a POTF Barada from his card three or four years ago...and I'd do it again without hesitation, I'd pop a Palitoy Zorro off his card in three seconds flat, if I had one and gave two shakes about the character.
                        But anyhow..

Life is too short - let them BREATHE if you LOVE them!

What must the neighbors think of the soft little cries?
