Funny I was just thinking the same thing about Adam Sandler. For about a 7 week span he gets the Thanksgiving song and both of those Hannukah songs. I would love to know how much in royalties he gets off those babies. They play constantly on radio stations around here.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

I've somehow managed to not here it or successfully tuned it out this year. I love McCartney, but that song's been a nightmare to me ever since I worked in a mall over Christmas way back.

Wonderful Christmastime is my favorite pop Christmas song of all time.

Weird as it seems, Lennon's Happy Christmas is one of my LEAST favorites - I think because I hate hearing Yoko sing backup

I'm probably the biggest Macca Fan on the Museum...and I have gone the road of really starting to never want to hear "Wonderful Christmastime" ever again. It is a great catchy Christmas song...but within the last few year I've gotten to the point where I just shut the radio off when it comes on. If you have the 45 and don't want to hear the song...play the flip side..."Rudolph The Red Nosed Reggae"

As for how much he may be taking in on the song...does it really matter anymore with McCartney The guy is the only billionaire with all his money made in the Music Industry/Record business. Couple million more at this time of the year is like a drop in the bucket.

These days I'd rather here Happy X-Mas (War Is Over) by John and Yoko than hear Macca's X-mas tune. Better yet...play George's "Ding Dong" Much better song than both John and Paul's Seasonal songs.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
          The beauty that surrounds them
          Isn't it a pity".

          - "Isn't It A Pity"

A bit off topic ..... Did McCartney ever buy back all his (and Lennon's) Beatles songs ? ... or just the few older ones like Love Me Do ?

I think so. Isn't that what took so long getting them onto iTunes?

I'm in the I like it crowd with "Wonderful Christmastime"
              It's all good!

He still only owns "Love Me Do" and "PS I Love You". The ITunes thing was held up because of the law suit that Apple Corp. (The Beatles Company) was still trying to iron out the technical side of things. When the Beatles Copyrighted Apple Corp they covered everything from soup to nuts...including the still beginning Computers. The lawsuit between The Beatles and Apple Computers has been going on for more than 20 years. They probably held out for a bigger royalty from Apple on the downloads too. They are the biggest and most successful act in Music. Elvis is probably the only one that could top what they did.

I think there are some publishing rights that will eventually turn to McCartney within the nex 10 years or sooner. Has to do with years after an aritst dies. Lennon is already 30 years, and being that the songs were written as Lennon and McCartney, the rights will eventually revert back to McCartney. So McCartney will eventually get a bigger share of the pie when it comes to royalties. I wish I could remember how the royalties/Publishing reversion went...but it's been 15 years since I went to 5 Towns College for Music Business and Recording and Engineering. I just don't recall how it works out....either way, McCartney and his eventual estate when he passes away will be rich for at least the next 50 or so years.

Sony/ATV is currently owned by the Jackson trust and Sony Corp for all publishing of Northern Song(UK) and Maclen (USA) (Lennon/McCartney) Beatles content.
50% of royalties go to Sony/ATV and 50% go to Lennon/McCartney.
Hence, the Lennon estate will always receive the 25% while the McCartney estate will always receive the other 25%.
No rights will be transferred unless the Jackson Trust decides to sell their portion back to Sony. In which case Sony will own 100% but the Lennon and McCartney estates will always receive 50% of all royalties for being composers.
Bottom line, McCartney will never own ATV Publishing unless he is offered to by Sony which will NEVER happen. Sony is sitting on top of a goldmine and Sony has first refusal to when the Jackson Trust decides to sell. Who would be second? I don't think it's Macca but whomever has the closest connections with Sony.

MPL Comm managed to purchase only four Beatle tracks from EMI:Love Me Do", "Please Please Me", "P.S. I Love You" and "Ask Me Why".

Its a real shame, as far as 'royalty rights' are concerned, seems like a dissolved friendship to me, rather sad...

They seemed to have great chemistry here:
(This is a GREAT video in my humble opinion, really captures the 'snake oil' era of early America....And as always, Paul found a part for Linda...I think that this song flows very well, the harmony is excellent, I find myself humming it at times....Pay close attention to the bridge just before the chorus - their voices blend in a very rich way, and Michael's physical performance is above par, as always...)

Having Michael portray the 'mark' was brilliant - just look at his physicality - amazing! (Also a bit CREEEEEEPY how LaToya is playing a chick at the bar giving him the eye! )

I wrote to a Beatles blog I check daily to inquire about how Georges song rights are raveled into the entire ATV mess.

I got a good answer a few years back, but frankly, can't recall the specifics..

My question was primarily towards his pre-'67 songs ('I Need You', 'Taxman', etc..), and his Harrisongs company he set up in '67 for his later song publishing. I believe his early stuff was all under Northern.

Ditto.. and ditto.. I like John's melody, just not the whole 'anti-war reminder' content in a Christmas song.

I wish Mac could get the song rights just so I could stop hearing terrible remakes of Beatles songs in commercials

I was never a mega beatles fan but now it's gotten to the point I am feeling 2 down and 2 to go
