When my kids were younger .. Santa had to stay up very late to sneak presents under the tree, so we would be up until 1-2 am getting things loking really nice and then come 6 am, the kids would be up and full of beans ready to start the day. Ah .. Christmas!

When I was a kid, I just didn't sleep on Christmas Eve. I would lay in bed awake and doze somewhat, but I was never "out". I'd wait until I knew "Santa" was gone, and then go in the living room, and there were the presents, unwrapped under the tree!!! I would just look at them for several hours, and play with the stuff that was loose, or read the comics in my stocking, what have you. Then about 4 or 5 when I couldn't stand it anymore I'd wake up my parents. Sometimes my sister would get up before them, but I'd usually have to wake her up too (she's 7 years older than me). My parents would get up and watch us open our presents, and start putting things together if they needed too. I remember my parents have a devil of a time with Castle Grayskull for some reason!
My son has never gotten up before 6:30 or so on Christmas Day, which surprises me, as he's an early riser any day of the week. He's often up before me and Cindy, especially on the weekends.
I have a feeling this year may be different, since Dani is an insomniac, and is fully engaged in the Christmas hoopla this year. She just turned 3, so she knows all about the fat man and his swag!

My Family's tradition was a bit different. We always went to family Christmas eve parties. after midnight we'd get our presents from our Aunts and Uncles. The parties would last till 2:00 3:00 into the morning of Christmas day. So as soon as we got home because we were all dressed my parents would allow us to open our presents and they could take pics.
We'd then go to sleep wake up at nine(lol) and start playing. My Mom said she did it on purpose cause she wasn't getting up early in the morning to open presents.....lolComment
