    Favre's Streak of Starts Ends

Say what you want about the Dude.....but let me put this streak into perspective.

His first official start was September 27th 1992 against the Steelers.

Hurricane Andrew had only hit South Florida the month before.

George H.W. Bush was President (Bush 41).

The name “O.J. Simpson” still made you think of Football, The Naked Gun, Hertz, and Dingo Boots.

World Wide Web....pfffttt...BBS is the future!!!

“Let me break out my Digital Camera!”....yer whaaaa?????

    Pentium Processor???

Remember all the talk when Sinead O'Conner ripped up the Pope's picture on Saturday Night Live? Well, that was the Saturday following the Sunday when Favre started his streak. (Dana Carvey was still a cast member).

Nick Jonas (of the Jonas Brothers) is about ten days old.

Miley Cyrus is still about two months away from being born.

The X-Files will hit the air...next year.

Whitney Houston didn't sing “I Will Always Love You”, dummy....that was Dolly Parton!

Seinfeld comes in at #25 behind such classics as “Heart Afire”, “Evening Shade”, “The Jackie Thomas Show”, and “Love and War”.

I'm 5'10”, 190 lbs, can run a 4.4 40 yard dash, bench over 300 lbs, and can dunk a basketball. (THATs how long ago it was and I am less than a year older than Favre).

Say what you want about him and I would probably agree with most of it (good AND bad), but that was one heck of a streak for Pro Football....especially a QB.

Agreed. Drama king perv or not, it's a monumental achievement. I can't stand him, but part of me is still pulling for him to come back next week and take them into the playoffs. I've always rooted for the geezers.

That was awesome saildog. A little perspective goes a long way.

Well, counting the playoffs, he's at 321.

I grew up hearing about Jim Marshall's streak of 289. He was an Iron Man.

If he goes out there for one snap is that considered a start? Or does he have to play a half or something?

The streak is impressive. I saw a piece on the quarterback he replaced after he was injured (Don Majkowski). One guy commented if Don hadn't been hurt we may never had heard of Favre.

The Majik-Man was well-loved (he's in the Packers Hall of Fame as a QB....Favre has yet to be awarded the honor, but I'm sure it will come). I remember Favre being booed quite a bit in his first few appearances because the Packers fans were convinced Majkowski was the sure bet.

Yeah, old Brett knew a little about what Aaron Rogers went through (and yet.....).

all he had to do was take the first offensive snap

                    Speaking of "offensive snaps":

Does the one count when he was with the Jets and took a picture of his junk because, technically, that was an "offensive snap"?

Yeah, but he and the coach both said that wasn't going to happen. He was going to start and play or not start at all. Have to give him kudos for that.

I don't know if we will live to see another QB break that streak.

Peyton Manning needs about another 6 consecutive seasons without injury to touch it. Eli is third with 99 consecutive starts...he needs about 12 years to break it and Phillip Rivers needs about 14 years to get there.

There isn't anyone as Tough as Favre to Ever own that Streak again.
He's gotten His Arse Kicked all season. I'm Surprised it lasted as long as it did this season for him.

I totally get that and I am not praising Favre, but trying to put the streak into perspective.

Doesn't matter who did it, that was a heck of a streak considering that we have had five Presidential Elections (and four Presidents...two of them two-term) in the interim.
