    Last night's "Conspiracy Theory"

Normally I don't go in for this stuff, but last night's episode was disturbing...all about the gulf oil spill.

It was allowed to happen. It was planned.

Remember Halliburton? They were responsible for installing a concrete retainer that would have prevented the spill, but kept putting it off. At the same time, they spent $240 million to purchase the world's largest cleanup company that handles oil spills. Guess who got the cleanup job?

Two weeks prior to the spill, BP's CEO sold all of his stock. At the same time, BP convinced TransOcean, who owned the rig BP was leasing, to take out a huge insurance policy with BP as the beneficiary.

Finally, the toxic stuff they used to clean up the oil? Prior to the spill, BP bought a ton of stock in the company that manufactures it. The profits from that more than covered the hit BP's stock took after the spill. In fact, that company's CEO is a former member of BP's board of directors. The profits from cleaning up one barrel of oil are four times the profit of selling the same barrel.

These guys didn't have to go far to split the money either...BP's gulf headquarters sit right next to Halliburton's...on Halliburton Road.

I have a hard time believing this theory... and that's saying alot since I believe in the Bilderberg Group, UFOs, Bigfoot and the Lochness Monster.

Do I believe it was allowed to happen? Sure. Because better precautions were not put in place. It was irresponsibility.

Was it planned? No. But did the owners plan how to take advantage of the certainty of their irresponsibility, "just in case"? Well yes, but you can also say I plan on taking advantage on the "just in case" certainty of death by having life insurance.

And as for BP and Halliburton being in the same geographic area? If you have an oil company with platforms on the Gulf, I assume you'd put the HQ nearby too. Halliburton is a large company that probably owns several industrial parks.

Did these companies profit from it? Sure. Did they purposely cause it? No.

I disagree. If you KNOW something is going to occur, and do nothing to prevent it, your inaction causes the result. Comparing it to death and buying life insurance is totally different, since death is unavoidable. This spill was avoidable. They allowed it to happen so they could make a huge profit cleaning it up. Why do you think BP refused help for so long? The longer oil spilled into the gulf, the bigger the disaster. Doesn't make much sense right? Until you figure the bigger the disaster, the bigger the cleanup, the more profit to be made.

But did they KNOW it was going to happen?

That's my point. It was probably going to happen, but was it certain it was to happen THAT day?

It's easy to sit back after an event happens and say, well yes, it was obvious from the beginning that that was the ONLY way something could have gone down. When in reality the things happened the way they did BECAUSE a certain set of factors were in place... did they send someone to sabotage the pipe?

No. They just didn't take an ample about of precautions that in hindsight they should have.

Crap happens. BIGGER crap than this happens where more money can be made.

I don't believe it was conspiracy. I believe it was a bunch of morons running crap.

I agree with the OP. There are just too many coincidences with the money moving around before hand. Come on. CEO sell all their stock and going into clean up companies just before a accident happens. Buying insurance just before a disaster. ..... If this was a insurance claim before a fire took out a business what would you think?

If it is true, wouldn't it be considered terrorism and be a homeland security issue ?

I don't think them boys would let them get away with it so easily.

Wake up people. Look around you. You live in a world you don't see. You are under the influence of lies and corruption. You fuel the fire that cooks you. The media is blinding you. You should watch the news without the sound. See what's going on... and don't let somebody tell you what to think.

You know, when I was having dinner last night with Bigfoot and Amelia Earhart we had the same discussion.

                            Hmmmm....

-I think you have to be REALLY leary of "Conspiracy Theory" and ANY of the current weird stuff tv shows. Conspiracy Theory displays a level of slack reporting that makes Weekly World News look like the immutable word of the Divine.
-I think you should also be leary of the idea of an evil megacorp planning to do evil. It's comforting to think that disasters like this are planned; at least compared to the notion that accidenta happen 'cos NOBODY'S in control.

I'd say incompetence and negligence. Was it planned? Doubtful. If they had the wherewithal to plan this and have the World believe it they probably would've played the "We're doing our best" card and convinced us all that it was just an unfortunate accident and maintained their stock share value. BP didn't come out of this unscathed -- either financially or in popular opinion.
