Plus Qatar automatically gets a bid....LOL.

Oh well, at least we get the thrill of watching the USA play Cuba and other small countries in World Cup qualifiers.

Basically because the MLS is a 3rd rate league and only has a handful of the world's best soccer players. It's pretty sad when a premier league club team can come to the states and easily beat an MLS All Star team. Premier League teams have been coming over the past few years to play friendlies and filling stadiums.

I honestly think that FIFA wants to give different countries/continents an opportunity to host. It will be back in the USA at some point. It also gives countries an opportunity to boost their economy and bring tourists who would otherwise not visit.

I can buy Russia, but even if you don't go with the U.S., there were better suitors for 2022.

AND, the if you want to promote the sport as global, putting it in the U.S. would show how exactly how global it is. There are claims that it is not as global because the huge and influential U.S. market doesn't embrace the sport. Having it here would show there is actually a huge fanbase here (The '94 Cup remains one of the most-watched and biggest money making Cups in history) It would help grow the sport even more more, adding credence to it global claim.

I guess having in the Middle East for the first time would be good for the sport. I just wanna be able to drive through the Lincoln Tunnel and see a match

I watched it live on CNN...and I'm still scratching my head as to why they had Max Kellerman (a boxing commentator)...report on this World Cup announcement...the dude himself says he doesn't care about soccer...so why bother having that idiot there in the first place?

The reason that FIFA gave the last world cup to South Africa is the same reason it is going to Russia and then to Qatar. FIFA know how important it is that football is seen to be a global sport and need to promote it as such.

I think it would be cool if the US got to host.

started a topic Qatar?!?!?!? for 2022 World Cup?!?!?

    Qatar?!?!?!? for 2022 World Cup?!?!?

Russia in 2018 I can accept. Growing economy, growing interest in soccer. But Qatar beats out the U.S. for the 2022 Worl Cup?!?!? I'm really starting to buy into all the rumours about FIFA being corrupted by those petro-dollars. I'm surprised that I'm honestly a bit ****ed about this.

I feel a bit better. Thanks for your time. You can all go back to not caring about soccer again.
