Hey Sandy what was the budget on Hunter Prey? I know Batman Dead End cost $30,000 if im not mistaking I also read that you sold your Porche to fund that project in 2002 was that true? Batman Dead End Short made giant splash at San Diego Comic Con in 2003. will definatly be checking this one out

Have not read the review, though I will.

Either way though, I'll be getting the DVD - I thought that the film was quite well done - much better than 95% of what HollyWood OR independents churn out...
I wasnt crazy about the 'Clone Wars meets Predator' armour, or about a couple of small story-related turn-offs, but so much more about it turned me on - the scene with the removal of the breathing apparatus, the character development, the landscapes - all ACES Sandy. (Hell man, my buddies first 'film' was like 'Evil Dead' meets 'Zombie Teenagers' with a $7,000 budget, so...sh1t...)

When you consider the Sci-Fi Channel and most other networks' offerings, this film feels like what Planet of the Apes might have felt like for my sister's generation.....It really absorbs like a sort of 60s Trek + Enemy Mine + Last Man on Earth + Outer Limits...etc...etc...Great stuff.

This person is on point -

        " Excellent movie

What a surprise treat this film was. Throwback to the old school style of film making when directors needed talent and imagination to make these kinds of movies, not millions of dollars. HUNTER PREY is an example of what can accomplished on a very limited budget, with two actors on basically one location. It's easy to make big budget, tent pole, summer blockbusters when you have a hundreds of people, millions of dollars and movie stars. I'd like to see just one of those big studio directors make something from nothing, get blood from a turnup and bring a world to life with only raw talent and there two hands. This director is a real artist who knows how to tell a compelling story with visually arresting imagery. 10/10"

EDIT Just grabbed my copy - the best dozen bucks I have spent on a DVD in a while....

Correct. Film is an incredibly collaborative medium. What usually ends up happening is, you tell someone in the press you "worked on" something, and they always kind of spin it into; you "did" or "created" something. It's never problematic, really... I mean, I've never had anyone call me up or email me saying "Hey, I worked on that too!" or "Didn't so and so do that?", but I can see how it could happen. I always try to be specific when I'm doing interviews or whatever, but things sometimes get misconstrued here and there.

Congrats Sandy, that's a great review. I read it earlier on DVDTalk (I've been a forum member there for eight years now, great site) and was going to post something here about it but you beat me to it. Can't wait to see the film. Are there any plans for a Blu-ray disc release?

At this point, no. The distributor is going to see how the first and second quarter sales go, then decide what to do about a possible Blu-Ray.

Really nice job, Sandy. I very much enjoyed this film. I watched it twice, the second time with the audio commentary. I also watched the 'making of' featurette. Very informative. Everyone involved should be very proud. This movie was made for less money than the catering budget for a lot of Hollywood films, yet the production value is top notch.

The direction was outstanding. It is so nice to see a modern movie without all of the headache inducing quick cuts that have been prevalent in action films since the 80s. The pacing is much more in line with classic films like The Omega Man, Soylent Green, and Silent Running, favorite Sci-Fi films from my youth.

This is a smart movie. Maybe too smart for the ADD generation of kids who have the attention span of a goldfish. But for aging 70's kids like myself, this movie is a real treat.

                                Congrats to everyone involved.
