Gotta love a guy who carried a fart machine with him. They just showed a clip of him on the news, describing the perfect epitaph. "Let 'er rip! Plbbbbbbbbbt!"
He was one of the greats. In addition to the roles mentioned, I always liked him on "Golden Girls" when his character and Dorothy got married.

My wife woke me up last night to tell me of his death....

I'll always know him as a comedian with ace timing and a master of slapstick and 'lowbrow humour'. To my parents' generation, he was more of a 'matinee idol'...funny how life works out, eh?

He did play that jealous pschyo to a T in CreepShow though, thats for sure -

            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFkQNYZuy4g

That entire film is GOLD though - a definite favorite - listen to that score...

Hope to see you again one day Leslie..

            Take care -

Just saw this on the news, Very sad.

I didn't know he was the Captain in Forbidden Planet until i saw it for the first time a couple of weeks ago.
To me though he will always be Lt Frank Drebin, Detective, Police Squad

Always loved him in Forbidden Planet...but my favorite film of his was Dracula: Dead and Loving It.

                He will be missed...R.I.P.

Before he became a comedian i'll always remember him as the Captain of the C57D (Forbidden Planet) and Captain of the SS Poseidon (The Poseidon Adventure)

Also for his 2 appearances in Columbo ...

                  RIP

He was also the Swamp Fox, an under-rated Disney adventure series.

If Neilsen was in it, it was good. The rest of the film may stink, but you could depend on him to carry it, either heroically, or bring the laughs.

                    I am extremely bummed.

Another man who made me laugh has passed away. Just caught NG 331/3 last week. His comedic delivery was fantastic. He will truly be missed. Wherever he goes I'm sure nobody will call him Shirley. RIP

When I saw "Airplane", I thought he was the best part of the movie, but I didn't get that he was one of several actors in that movie who were playing against type. I was too young to appreciate that layer and how it made everything that was said just "a little bit funnier" than what was being played out on the screen.

He made it look so easy that it was hard for me to believe that he had a career before his comedic roles.

I want to be sad, but I keep thinking about certain scenes from the second-phase of his film career and I really can only laugh.

Jeeze....could one really have done it any better than to have people think of you, even in death, and still have them giggle?
