    Help clean up America

The global warming thread started me thinking about the classic 70's help clean up America campaigns.

You know, I think they actually did work.

When I watch 70's shows that show a lot of outside shots of both NYC and LA it's a big difference TODAY for the better.

Example, was watching Emergency! last night and could not believe how much smog there was back then.

I've also noticed this in other LA outdoor filmed shows like CHiPs and Columbo etc.

NYC had way more littered streets and graffiti --- same with Philly

It's weird, but it is actually better and nicer today than it was in our golden era.

Dennis Miller does a bit where he remembers how his parents would gather up the kids, take them to Dairy Queen, get a whole bunch of stuff, eat it in the car and when they were done with it, chuck all the trash out the side of the road.

He talks about how average people would shriek at the thought of doing that today as compared to average people of the past.
