I'm headed to bed in about an hour. I need to be at work around 2:00 A.M. Bleh.

I have to be a somewhat respected manager and oversee this absolute madness. My instincts, however; are to devolve into a monkey and fling poo at those who get out of line tomorrow....

So, the wife just called from TRU. The parking lot is a zoo. They're letting only 50 people in the store at a time, and the rest have to stand in line outside in the pouring rain. Ixnay on oys-R-usTay. Next up - WalMart (oh, joy!)

Oh, and she did mention already seeing a bit of poo being flung. Shoppers unable to find retro POTA figures, no doubt.

no way, unless they were giving out a rm robin from mego, they should call it green week instead ,and it should last a week,so the mad rush wont get anyone killed, after all were not cattle or pigs rushing for food.or have they made us that way?.

Im headed to walmart at Midnight. If there is a line oh well. The blu ray movies are fairly cheap and some of the games as well. Nothing big this year as I did all my xmas shopping early. Hope its not a madhouse because the walmart Im going to is in a small town and everyone should be in fresno I hope.

Well, my wife and I had fun last night. Grandma stayed with the kids and then we went out to see what it was all like. First we went to the brand new TRU/Babies R US (BRU?) to see what that was like. At 11 p.m. the line stretched the equivalent of two football fields. I'm not sure why folks were still getting in line at that point as I could only imagine that the wait just to get in had to be over two hours. We then visited the WalMart and found parking right away. Inside, folks had their carts full and were standing in check-out lines not moving at all because they were all waiting for midnight to hit so that their items would all be on sale. We then hit the road again and saw lines outside of Old Navy, Target, and GameStop all waiting for the doors to open early morning. I remarked to my wife that this was like driving around on Xmas eve looking at everyone's light displays. We got to see everyone's throng of humanity
Wife and I then drove to meet my brother and stopped at an older TRU near him. We went right in and had fun. I picked up a Santa Sing-a-ma-jig for the kids and we found some good deals on some Polly Pocket stuff and Hot Wheels, also for the kids for Xmas. This TRU still only had Sinestro and Luthor on the pegs
              It's all good!

I'm doing most of my shopping online, but I saw Ultimate Electronics had Breaking Bad seasons 1 and 2 for $5.95 each, so I went out around 9:30 AM. It really wasn't that bad... I was expecting traffic and madness and there really wasn't. I guess most of the crazies were early birds.

What was kind of cool was that Ultimate Electronics' computer checkout system went out of order right as I got in line. I had to wait a while to get checked out, so one of the store managers handed out $5 coupons as compensation for everyone in line, so I got two seasons of Breaking Bad for $7 and tax.

On the way home from Thanksgiving:Part II with my family, we drove past one of the shopping centers and saw people lining up outside Target aroun 9pm Thursday night. I have no idea what time they opened or what kind of specials they were running.
My husband decided to go out around 6am with his sister so she didn't have to fight the crowds alone. After looking at the store circulars and deciding there was nothing I was interested in, I decided to stay home. I just finished a large part of my shopping online earlier today. Nate said that by the time they got to Target, it wasn't all that bad. There didn't seem to be anything sold out, and all the registers were open, so the lines were minimal. GameStop was actually pretty dead, because they weren't running a lot of great specials. Toys R Us, however, had a line that snaked back through several sections and wound across the store into the baby clothes on the other side. The wait was at least an hour to check out.
Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?

My wife was out all night. She hit WalMart, TRU & Kohl's, and got home around 6:30. I got up at that time, made coffee and got ready to take my turn, and then decided that there really wasn't anything that I needed that badly. I later went out and drove past Target, Lowe's, Old Navy, BBY and World Market, but decided it was still too crazy to go in. I guess the recession is over?

Interestingly, I've managed to get most of what I wanted on-line. Amazon had better deals on cameras & TVs than what I bought at Sears, so I went that route, instead. I'll wait on the Sears returns until I have my Amazon stuff in-hand. I also snagged gloves from JC Penney and a sweater from Old Navy. All had free shipping but Old Navy, and all were at door-buster prices. Sooo...next year I'll just plan on sitting by the computer all night, and not even think about the crowds.

I've been listening to some ridiculous stories on the radio. Some woman with her family all wearing matching shirts with their name on it, elbowed some other lady in the face, just because she thought she was trying to get ahead of her in line. The lady who got hit, didn't even have anything to purchase. She was a reporter looking for shoppers to interview.

I thought about leaving my wallet at home and going out just to watch insane people
fight over sweaters and socks and other crap.
"Steel-like jaws clacked away, each bite slashing flesh from my body - I used my knife and my hands, and when they were gone, my bloody stumps - and yet the turtles came."

My wife and I went to Target after dinner this evening (Friday) and picked up a bunch of the so called doorbusters 16 hours later. Had to deal with the third string staff that didn't work this morning, but got a Fire Bowl ($29), Dirt Devil Vacuum Stick ($9), Sheets, lights, fleece crap for the wife and some other sale stuff. Nice and relaxed. Only one item on the list that I wanted possibly (2TB Backup Drive for $69) was sold out.
