The argument comes as fans of th show grow up but there is always a new crop in Jr High/middle school waiting to be allowed to stay up late

I dunno if I can agree with that, from a long time fans point of view.

I started watching regularly around when Bill Murray first came in and stuck with it up to around when Will Ferrell left.

That must be at least a 20 year stretch.

I'm no Ferrell fan, but I do use him as a milestone for when it became unwatchable for me.

IMO even the Billy Crystal years were better than today

I do wish they'd put a few of the early 80s years on DVD.. It's hard to find the years with Eddie Murphy (as Gumby..), and Joe Piscopo (as numerous characters..) anywhere.

I stopped watching when I saw Adam Sandler join the cast..., and Dana Carvey wave goodbye.

Apparently it'll be a while be for the 'Dick Ebersol' years are released, but they had some GREAT material then too, with Bill Crystal, Martin Short, Brad Hall, etc..

If anyone's got the 'Gumby Christmas Special', PLEASE let me know...
Also looking for the segments when 'Buckwheat got shot' and Larry the Lobster..:

When Eddie Murphy did the national call-in to save Larry the Lobster for a few weeks, the votes were finally tabulated to save the Lobster, but Eddie later comes on with a plate of fried Lobster and eats it on the show because he got some letter saying that 'black people didn't eat seafood'...
