Those ridiculous shows are a HOOT!

Seems like they have taken OVER the Sci-Fi Channel! These sort of 'ghost hunting teams' are little more than fodder for basic cable programming, and have been discredited time and time again.
(IE: Their 'resonance detectors' that essentially just pick-up on electrical signals in a structure, and their often used 'guerilla' or 'Blair Witch-style' camerawork - "Oh GOD - did you SEE that?!? What the hell WAS that?!? AHHHH!!!")

The stuff is pure junk food, but I bet it's good entertainment for kids or the very inebriated!

I watch these shows with my kids all the time just to laugh at these people and make fun of them.

I do not believe in ghosts and I find it funny that they use the word "theory" when they talk about what they are doing, i.e. "the theory is that ghosts give off a heat signature..." or whatever. This is an insult to scientific communities everywhere. Ghost hunters do NOT use theories they use "ideas" or "guesses" into what they can't even prove. A theory HAS to be based in some sort of fact.

All this stuff is good entertainment at best. Why do you think its on A&E (the "E" stands for "entertainment") and not on the news?

Your kidding, right? There is seriously a movie called "Freddy Got Fingered" ?!?

Tom Green was in a skin flick?!

MegoWGSH - Not sure if you have seen THIS yet, but it's the Sci-Fi Channel's latest 'paranormal' program:
(This one is said to be the most CHILLING entry yet -)

This is the Animal Planet's spin-off of A Haunting which used to air on Discovery Channel. I bought the set Seasons' 1-4. A Haunting as a series is pretty cool, very entertaining, re-enactment series. This show I have not watched but I'll take a look at. There is a huge fan following for the show. Many episodes are actually better than high-budget horror films. Based on actual reports from real people, tho some people have said the series producers "embellished" their stories for greater effect.

Sometimes I do laff at the certain episodes. One guy had 2 girlfriends and the "ghost" or entity used to make them depressed to mess with them. He was never really sure what it was. The episode ended with the "ghost" twisting his arm behind his back and throwing him up against a wall like some SNL sketch as if to say, " Yeah pretty boy! I'm a ghost! What're you gonna do about it? You can't even touch me!" You also can't beat the relentless piano music and the narrators grim voice. All help the effect.

I love watching A Haunting. I'm always looking for this type of entertainment. I love the music in the background and the narrator's voice. And I love the stories they have. My husband can't understand why I love to watch this stuff.

I used to enjoy this stuff but to me it's just played out. I mean how many people can be out and about "hunting" for ghosts and never actually find anything that matches the stories that get you interested in the first place. I mean seriously, "Cold Spots", things that ALWAYS happen off camera even though EVERYONE in the room has one in hand?

I do believe their is more going on in this world that we don't totally understand but these shows and the genre itself has bored me to tears when it comes to enjoying a good ghost story anymore. I myself am a culprit in this nonsense myself... Case Files of the OGRS After I created those shows and got it out of my system, I am really bored with the whole thing. I do like my Odie the Ogre though. He will be a Mego one day!

I truly believe in ghosts, certain things we simply dont understand yet, lost souls etc, ask Jim, he sent me one of his ghost hunts(big thanks Jim), and he can honestly say that some freaky crap happened. Watching these shows I always wonder, because eventually the family leaves the house, and they never really finish it of, what the hell was there, I always think about the so called next family, who move in.
