I refuse to eat balut, chicken feet, chicken wings. Pretty much anything else I will try. I really hate sea urchin, too. Just the way it looks is a turnoff. If it's a bird and the head is attached, I refuse to sit at the table because I have a serious bird phobia.
No baked beans...or any other type except runner, no offal (liver, heart, tripe, haggis etc), no pulses, no winkles, cockles, whelks, no falafal, humas, olives, cottage cheese or goats cheese in fact any cheese that's at all runny in any way...so many more horrible things that I feel ill just thinking about them all.
ENGLISH AND DAMN PROUD OF IT British by birth....English by the grace of God. Yes Jamie...it is big isn't it....
I am an extremely picky eater,....it might be easier to list what I will eat. LOL I like my food bland, bland, bland. If I could just eat plain pasta, white bread and unseasoned potatoes, I would be all set. However, wanting to stay healthy, I eat a wide variety of foods; choking down the vast majority of my food, hating it the entire time.
But on the absolutely-would-rather-die-first list are mushrooms, capers, pancakes/waffles, scrapple, and pickled deer heart, a holiday season favorite in my family.
"Whale penis" How do you know, have you TRIED?!
(RESISTING making a joke relating to my wedding night...!!!)
Well, I'm a chef so I could ramble here all day. The only things I do NOT really care for are raw tomatoes, cucumbers, and green (unripened) olives.
Wow, sounds like many folks here have a VERY 'vanilla' diet! It's a BIG world folks - LIVE a little - your gastronomic life doesnt HAVE to be McDonalds and meatloaf you know!!
Here are some foods I LOVE:
-Cheeses of ALL kinds, the more ripe the better
-Fatty cuts of beef, pork, and all manner of game meats
-MOST organ meats, especially veal livers and chicken hearts though...mmmm
-MOST fruits and veggies, especially melons, the more exotic the better
-Hummus
-Nearly ALL manner of 'foreign foods' - Indian, Middle Eastern, Chinese, English, German, West Indian, etc.etc.
-VEGEMITE!
-Cheesecakes, I make the best - gotta have that berry compote and some nice creme fresh...mmm..
-All manner of sea proteins, but especially New Zealand mussels and conch...mmmm
Wow, too many things to list!
Oh, and I LOVE menudo if done WELL. "Mondongo"?!? What is that? Are you speaking about that 70s exploitation film or the boss enemy from the Legend of Zelda game??
Hector - It's Domingo Menudo today amigo - I'll be heading next door to join the guys for Coronas and soup in a few hours, we are all in need after "Mucho Sabado Cerveza" last night, grab a spoon hermano!

But, you apparently LIKE food. For me, the taste of most food is so very overpowering that it make me physically ill. Eating is something I do because it is necessary to survive, but I don't think I will ever enjoy a meal. Meals are something to choke down and get over with as soon as possible.
P.S. I don't like vanilla either! Vanilla is a very strong flavor, and I dislike vanilla ice cream, vanilla frosting, etc. It is even very obvious in cake and cookies. Yuck!
