i can imagine bro, i weighed 215lbs. 5 weeks ago and I'm 5'8...not fat but still..I started playing b-ball with my friends again and man the day after my ankles,back and knees were killing me..now I'm 194 and still hurts a bit but not as much, trying to get down to 185

Actually - in all seriousness the title of the article is kind of misleading, I think. He's actually kinda proving the opposite of what the headline is saying.
What he was basically trying to prove is that special or trendy diet's DON'T work - as long as you're controlling your caloric intake it doesn't matter what you eat.
He could also prove his point by doubling his daily calories by eating nothing but cauliflower and gain weight - which would be more impressive to me!Comment

Reminds me - I have a fat turkey defrosting in the fridge - no time like the present to toss the old boy in the oven, eh?
(BTW - for those here that are culinary minded - this is the BEST 'glaze' for a turkey - make an emulsion of soy sauce, brown sugar, and honey - suit it to your own taste - mmmmmmmm!!)

I can't imagine trying to function for more than a day on that junk food diet. It might provide enough calories to keep you alive in an office setting, but for me I think I need real meat and fresh vegetables to keep up my energy and heal my body.
The only diet I ever tried was a modified Atkin's. Same idea as any diet that works though, "think about what you're consuming." I cut out beer, snacked on peanuts, removed bread, pasta, rice, basically all boxed foods, and just spent more time in the kitchen. It was six months of steak and whiskey, more Hemingway than Atkin's, but I did shed forty pounds fairly quickly and painlessly, and I learned more about cooking.Comment
