I think everyone watched it back then. It was huge.

My sisters watched it, I usually ran off to snoop into what my brothers were doing.

I was more partial to 'All in the Family' and 'Sanford and Son' - they both hit closer to home for me.

I like it, especially the earlier shows. It's on Hub, y'know.

I watched it as a kid but what always bothered me about it is how unrealistic the kids were. it was like the Cosby show later, where the kids are all pretty much perfect and way too well behaved.

              Never saw a single episode.

82-86 I was was poor undergrad who couldn't afford a TV. Didn't watch anything during that period.

86-89 I was working on a master's and doing my 1st hitch in the army. I did have a TV, but only made time to watch ST: TNG once a week.

I watched it pretty often, but like a lot of people, I got even more into it after Back to the Future. I loved the Alex/Ellen storyline.

Remember Tom Hanks as Uncle Ned?

^ I agree. My pop was the foreman at the International Paper plant, and there were eight kids in my family, very 'working class'. This show and shows that are similar were a little too 'squeaky clean' for me and mine!

                  Take care -

This was the early-mid 80s after all, and this was a family sitcom. So sure it was a "wholesome" show most of the time, but I wouldn't call the kids (or parents) "perfect". There were plenty of less-than-perfect issues that the show dealt with. See my previous post/link.

Or how about the uncle that put the moves on mallory?

Didn't they go they way of most sitcoms when the kids grew older and add a "cousin Oliver" towards the end? I watched the early eps, but by time they were in the last few seasons, I was usually busy with other stuff.
                      It's all good!

Never watched this regularly. As I recall it was on Thurs nights? I would come in at 10pm and watch Hill Street Blues with my parents.

It wasn't something that I watched regularly but if it was sandwiched between Cosby and Cheers I'm not sure how I missed it....
