    This is amazing! It looks a little like The Doomsday Machine from Star Trek!

    Wow! Thanks for posting those. Those look amazing. I wonder if they're going to add colour to the high res images?

    Also, Phil Plait (The Bad Astronomer) is awesome and his podcast rules.

      I read that NASA flew the Australian astronomer who discovered it (Hartley) to the US to watch the images come in live, nice touch!

          Very cool that we live in an age where this is possible. Sometimes I think that folks get so used to movie magic and special effects that they take the real stuff for granted.

            I think that's true - I also think this isn't what I'd expect this to look like because of movies. This is the one that kinda looks fake - if that makes sense.

              NASA quickly lost contact with its probe after the last pic was taken. The comets new tragectoriy shows it changed coarse and is heading towards Earth.
