It's The Great Pumpkin is on tonite on ABC!

OK, call me a throwback, but I really miss when this was a BIG DEAL. Now anyone can watch this and other specials any ole time they want. But give me the days when it was on CBS and you knew it was on because of this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6W9V9SZPHAY

Homework had to be done, my plate had to be cleaned and jammies had to be on by 8pm if I was gonna be allowed to watch. If anyone missed it, tough luck til next year. So today I wear my Great Pumpkin t-shirt, and I'll watch in my Great Pumpkin jammies later.

BTW...I'm not thrilled that ABC turned the promo for this into a RAP!

    Anyone else gonna watch?

New Network promo's (especially ones from the big-3) are always outdated in style

Rap would have been the way to go 10 years ago.

Kidding, I'm actually right there with you. Having to wait all year and waiting until that one night made the special part of the holiday. Beistle pumpkins start popping up in windows, you get excited about a costume, parade around your elementary school, enjoy the Peanuts, trick or treat in the hood and finally parcel the "bad" treats out of your bags- Its all part of Halloween.

Loved that CBS open, but we never had Dolly Madison snack cakes in Philly, so I always felt I was missing out on some mystery.

I miss those Dolly Madison commercials too.

I was watching the History Channel's "History Of Halloween" the other night and didn't realize that "The Great Pumpkin" actually played a part in how we celebrate the tradition.

We had a Screen on the green night at the elementary school 2 weeks ago. The cartoon was Its the Great Pumpkin!
Too many toys. Not enough space!

                    I got a rock!

Charlie Brown/Peanuts RULE!! I have most of the specials on DVD now. I love watching them as they take me back to the simple times of only three TV stations! I always looked forward to them on every holiday.

The Great Pumpkin is nothing more than a myth perpetuated on the American public by a little boy with serious dependency issues.....

Did anyone ever notice that Charlie Brown's ghost costume doesn't have more than two holes when he salutes Snoopy as he walks out the door as the WWI flying ace? I talked to a dealer who sells animation art who actually knew Bill Melendez personally and he told me that the errors were due to a combination of budget constraints and time pressures. He knew there were animation continuity issues but had to just let them go. Apparently, the budgets were so thin that finding a complete original Peanuts cel is pretty hard to find and why they fetch large prices. They would use the same scenes over and over.

Yeah, me and my wife noticed that the other night when we watched the dvd with our son! First time I ever noticed that.
