OMG! I'm so glad I missed that! At first I thought this thread was about the REAL Monkees comeback in the 80s.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

        Nah, never

I was quite excited to see the REAL Monkees get back together in the 80's

        Even with or without Mike

I actaully gave this a chance. after all it came out the same year as Star Trek - the next generation. Yes they went way over the top and the first single was too vulgar to be a hit. never mind the 80's big hair. but i gave them a chance.

            Never heard of them...

All I can say after watching that is that's 30 seconds of my life I'll never get back.

From the original producers that brought you The Monkees! The 1st problem with this show is that they copied the premise of Pee-Wee's Playhouse. Rather than try to sell the story of a band trying to make it in the music business they stuck 4 guys in this fantasy mansion where anything could happen. None of it was grounded in the real world so you couldn't have the contrast that the original Monkees had when they did their musical romp vs. the (implausible), storyline.

I didn't think the music was that bad tho. Many of these guys still work in the music biz-tho none are really break-out stars. I bought the CD on half.com last year as I'm replacing all my tape cassettes.

I remember seeing them "introduced" on one of the network morning shows. The producers were trying to cash in on the success of Monkees re-runs on MTV which led to the original group (mostly without Mike) getting back together.

I never watched the show. You could smell the stink coming off it just from their morning show segment.

I file this away with Munsters Today in the "This Didn't Really Happen" department.

I think I might have lasted two episodes, there were ways of passing the torch but this thing seemed to take every goofy misstep possible.

Most syndicated stuff in the 80s was dreck.

Yep. With a few exceptions, like New Teen Titans

Yep again. TNG was a shining diamond in a pile of poo, and even it wasn't very good at first. My Secret Identity, anyone?

                            Awful, just awful.
"Steel-like jaws clacked away, each bite slashing flesh from my body - I used my knife and my hands, and when they were gone, my bloody stumps - and yet the turtles came."
