The Hobbit starts filming Feb. 2011

Tho filming date is set and Peter Jackson is the director there is still the problem with the actor's union and there is no definate announcement on who is playing Bilbo; Martin Freeman,( The office-British, HHGTTG-film)? Sylvester McCoy is listed on IMDB as Radaghast the Brown. The production could move out of New Zealand if the actors union decides to take measures against the production.

    Finally things are almost rolling!!!

On a side note I just scored the Children of Hurin by JRR Tolkien in hard cover for $3.

Maybe Sideshow can continue their 1/6 scale LOTR figures now.

I'd rather watch 9 hours of sean austin and elijah wood than 1 1/2 hours of brandon routh!!!

                        Another Peter Jackson bore fest...
I was hoping for a different director!! The only story I like from the books, but I'll be missing this movie.

Peter Jackson made a fantastic job of Lord of the Rings and i have no doubt will make a fantastic job of The Hobbit.

I admire Jackson for the years-and-years marathon of work it took to pull off the original trilogy. But his sensibilities as an artistic director just leave me cold. I was really looking forward to seeing someone else's take on Middle-Earth -- but then, I don't think of these as "my" movies, really. LOTR fans are ecstatic about this I'm sure, and I'm happy for them.
