Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass appreciation thread

My late dad loved Herb Alpert...and so do I...

Herb Alpert & Tijuana Brass' first hit as a group, The Loney Bull:

Tijuana Brass were no more than hired session musicians by Herb Alpert...and no one in Alpert's band was actually Hispanic...but it did opened a lot of doors for Latin musicians in the U.S., that's why he's appreciated by the Latin community.

I personally think Herb Alpert is an American institution...

Listening to this brings back a LOT of good memories of my dad...

It has been a while, but I think they do a tune called "Rise" do they not? That is a pretty cool nice and mellow tune .

As a kid I was made aware of Herb Alpert when this fantastic album cover made it into the house:

I still think I'm in love

Believe it or not I seen that album not too long ago during one of my thrift store journey's.

My Mom was (and still is) a big HA&TTB fan. And yes, she had that album too. I think I stared a hole through it.

                  Believe it or not?

That's like saying "believe it or not I saw a broken toaster oven on one of my thrift excursions".....Or "believe it or not I saw a pile of used underwear at my local thrift for 99 cents a pop".....

Herb Alpert records clog every artery of every second hand Lp ventricle in the country.....up there with the miles and miles of Andy Williams and Barbara Streisand chud......uggh.

Can't say I'm a fan, but gotta give the whipped cream cover it's due respect. It is a classic for sure......

Best recorded and engineered album that transferred perfectly to vinyl?
                    The soundtrack to Casino Royale.
Phil Ramone was brilliant on that album and love it.
                    Dusty Springfield and Herb Alpert.

He totally ripped that off from Soul Asylum:
