    Even My Commercials Are Old

I happened upon a network on the higher end of my cable listings that was airing the original Kung Fu series. Well, I couldn't resist and set the DVR to start recording the series (man, I love DVR's). Now I see this network is also airing Batman, The Green Hornet, The Bob Newhart Show, Mary Tyler Moore, Mission Impossible, Lost in Space and WKRP in Cinncinati. I also plan on checking out Land of the Gaints, the Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Time Tunnel. I reacted with a "wow," a network for me!

As I started enjoying my new-found old shows, I've begun to notice a distinct theme in the companies who are buying ad time with the assumption that a certain demo is watching. Almost every commercial is for life insurance, hearing aids or scooters!!!

Oh, I'll keep watching, but each ad makes realize how far removed i am from the companies advertising over on the WB

BTW, this is the network. Its called The American Life Network (it even sounds old) - AmericanLife TV Network
    WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.

Heh, it somehow beats the non stop "get a job in truck driving" commercials I used to see on whatever shows or movies I watched.

I noticed that too Bill when I was watching Batman on ALN last Friday....all the commercials were indeed marketed toward the much older demographic! Even my wife commented on the fact that I was watching an "old people's" channel!

I wish I had that channel too. That's the kind of line-up Nick at Nite once aired before they started showing 8 straight hours of Good Times each night.

Funny but I'll bet Viagra commercials air both on this station and the WB. Everyone wants Viagra either out of need or recreational curiosity.

I really want this channel. By the time Direct TV adds it, they'll have dumped all the cool retro programming for "original content".
