2010-2011 NHL season starts right now

So it is right now 10 minutes away from the first NHL game of the year. My team the Carolina Hurricanes are playing the Minnesota Wild in Helsinki Finland today and tomorrow at high noon eastern time zone. Also today the Flyers play the Penguins tonight. The defending cup champs the Chicago Blackhawks play the Avalanche, Calgary plays Edmonton. Oh yeah JP your boys play Toronto but you know that already.

So who is a hockey fan here and who is your team. How do they look so far this year. OH yes it's true, it's darn true, Hockey is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bluejackets. We might be good enough to snag one of the last playoff spots this year, or maybe not. The guys are in better condition this year, but our roster is basically the same one that got Hitch (justifiably) spitcanned last year. Season ticket sales are way off - maybe 25%. Time for the kids to grow up. We never should've traded Shelley.

First time foray into following the NHL for me and I am looking forward to it.

Oklahoma City just got an AHL team this year...OKC Barons, an affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers.

Prior to this we had a CHL team that was very well loved, but 99% of those guys weren't going to make it to the next level. Now that we have a tie to the NHL, I'm going to start keeping up on the standings, taking in the Sports Center highlights, and watching some games on the tube.

Flames fan here. Sadly, I fear this year will be another mess. they tried to rebuild this team a bit over the summer, mainly by bringing back a bunch of guys who they traded off last year and the year before because they werent working out. I just walked away from tonights Oiler game in disgust as it looks like the same old team as last year. a couple of guys are trying, and the rookie, Brodie, looks really good. Other than that, same old same old. Going to be a looooong season.

Whooooooooooo Canes win again. 2-0 on the year. Better than the 0-14 start they had last year. Cam Ward is one of the elite goalies in the league.

Good to have a new fan on board saildog. First thing you need to know is Versus sucks and Bill Smacky Patrick is the worst announcer. I swear he smacks every time he opens his dang mouth. This is the last year the NHL is under contract with versus an if Bettman has any brains he will get the NHL back on ESPN where people can actually watch the games.
Captain it may be a long season but at least it is the greatest sport ever and it's still hockey.

As much as it pains me the Pens will contend again this year.

Sure hope the Stars can rebound from the dissappointing last couple of years! Modano's gone and they're re-seting so i'm not too encouraged, JOHN
