    A Newer New 'The Munsters'

Its about time somebody thought about remaking a classic TV series.

Sarcasm aside, I have to admit having Bryan Fuller and Guillermo del Toro does pique my interest a bit more.

    From Entertainment Weekly-

    NBC Remaking The Munsters

Consider this an early Halloween present from me to you: Pushing Daisies mastermind Bryan Fuller is toiling away on a modern-day reboot of the creepshow classic The Munsters!

So far, NBC, with whom Fuller has an overall deal, has ordered only a pilot. But since the potential series is being described to me as “Modern Family meets True Blood,” I have a good feeling about it.

Not only that, but rumor has it no less than Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy) is eyeing a behind-the-scenes role in the project.

On the upside this means the threatened Wayans brothers version is dead. The "Modern Family meets True Blood" comment doesn't exactly fill me confidence though. Hopefully some Guillermo del Toro involvement will balance that out.

Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

As much as John Schmuck was actually a good choice, this version doesn't makes me nervous about ANY remake-

The fact that I won't see a Munsters movie filled with fart jokes makes me smile.

Personally, I'm against this (of course, I always am), but if they really wanna cast someone for Herman Munster, it should be Brad Garrett.

The Munsters worked for the 60's, but only managed two years and a few cheese puff movies. It would be fun to see, but I know it won't satisfy today's audience. Plus it would have to be in B&W and carry the same makeups as the original...not likely to happen. Many forget this was remade into a series once before and was terrible. Entitled "Munsters today"... Here's the HORRID opening

The Everybody Loves Raymond guy would make a pretty good Herman.

Munsters Today was no where even in the same league as the original series but it wasn't totally unwatchable. The two 90s Munsters made for TV movies weren't bad. Edward Herrmann and Veronica Hamel were pretty good as Lily and Herman in Here Come the Munsters. Shame it never got a DVD release Like Scary little Christmas did.

If I read you right then this^^^ mentality means it doesn't gain
                      from ANY changes...
....well, if anyone bothers making a remake of anything,
there HAVE to be changes, simply because a production team
                      is useless w/out vision.

Now whether that vision renders anythimng youd like... that always remains
to be seen and depends on billions of factors.

Never saw the Munsters Today, but it reminds me of the quickie, Canadian made New Addams Family. They shot something like 3 episodes a week, and filmed all 65 in one long run. Kinda crappy, but eerily familiar to the original.
