Are you freaking kidding me? If you think of music when you think of Madonna, I believe your brain is fried. Talk about a performer who has exploited herself...She essentially said, "I'll dress and act like a wh*re and people will think of me as provocative." Her bubble gum music is hardly what comes to mind when you think of that tramp. And she doesn't even write her own music. KISS completely revamped the music industry in how it is marketed, merchandised, and crafted to the public. That alone is worthy of the the HOF. But lets not forget the countless musicians they have influenced and the fact they have sold more gold records than any American act in the country. I'm GLAD KISS is not in the "Hall". Their exclusion shows how bias the process really is. There is nothing objective in their recognition. It's a handful of burned out hippies who popped their pimples in the 60's, and have probably never held a respectable day job in their life.

I agree, it's total BS. I love KISS, always have.
However; Their music, though very catchy and "hooky", takes a HUGE backseat to their image. They've always known this. Gene even has admitted that the way the band looked was a big factor in what drove people to discover them and become fans. It was totally brilliant, especially for it's day, but c'mon folks, let's be honest here; I've heard high school bands that were more musically talented than KISS. from strictly a musical standpoint, you can't compare them to a band like RUSH. That's not even apples and oranges, it's like apples and refrigerators...

I'm amazed Alice Cooper is finally nominated. Jann Wenner (of Rolling Stone magazine) chairman of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame hates KISS and most other gimmick bands. There was never even a mention in Rolling Stone when Eric Carr died.
Even if you hate KISS, you have to admit it is idiotic that they are not in. They are a household name. They still sell records, merchandise and tour. They influenced all different genres of music (Dr. Dre and Garth Brooks are fans). Rock And Roll All Nite is arguably the rock and roll national anthem. They spawned a new breed of younger hair band fans in the 80's.The fact that they still made it all those years without the make up says something.
If you want a laugh, look who has been inducted over the years.
Past Induction Ceremonies | The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum
The Hollies? Bobby Womack? Grand Master Flash? The O'Jays? Traffic? Brenda Lee? Solomon Burke? The Moonglows?
Those are just a few of the names that have been already inducted. Some I'm familiar with and others I'm not. None deserve to be inducted before KISS. Ask 100 random people of all different ages who they are. Then ask how many know who KISS are. I wonder who would be more relevant?
I know people who never gave KISS a chance because they always hated the make up and costumes. It's the same reason why they were not inducted this year. It's political B.S. Even my parents who hate KISS still can't believe they are not in!Comment

I still remember a few years ago when The Dave Clark Five was bumped off the list even though they had the majority votes because instead they chose to induct a rap group... Only because they needed any rap group in.
That alone proves they are 100% fixed and nobody should take them seriously.
Any person can start a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The only reason theirs is popular because they have Rolling Stone behind it - which Rolling Stone is nothing today.
BTW, speaking of Rolling Stone, I love reading their ORIGINAL classic album reviews.
Today they wished they never slammed so many huge classic albums when they were newLast edited by Mikey; Sep 29, '10, 10:05 AM.Comment

Neil was more of a rocker back in the late 60s/early 70s when he was on the Bang! label.....He's gotten more schmaltzy since then....."You Don't Bring Me Flowers" and "Coming to America" didn't do him any favors IMO....Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

In fact I will dare go as far to say if it was not for the makeup they would have remained an underground obscurity
I do not hate Kiss, but I am realistic in my rating of them as "so so" musicians regardless of how many people hate me for that statementLast edited by mazinz; Sep 29, '10, 12:52 PM."What motivated him to throw a puppy at the Hells Angels is currently unclear,"

I don't hate you for anything that you said. What I DO disagree with is your statement about Madonna somehow holding validity for her HOF induction because of her music. To mention her next to the Beatles is ludicrous in my book. Her success has had EVERYTHING to do with marketing and that's great. But musically, that is a stretch to say the least. C'mon. That would be like me saying KISS should be voted in for giving us "Love Gun". That's my point. And we're also not talking about the 'Song Writer's Hall of Fame". That is a separate category, so I don't really know where music plays the only roll in examining an artist's validity here. Rock n roll is an expression and how one appears has everything to do with that. Ask audiences about Elvis back in the day and how outrageous he looked. Do you think they were thinking about his music initially? No. The same with the Beatles. KISS plays right into that same thinking to a point. It all counts.Last edited by MIB41; Sep 29, '10, 1:02 PM.Comment

I'm sure there is already a youtube video on last night's jeopardy category already. I can't access youtube from here but please post it if you can find it. Every other question was answered until they got to "Dr. Love"....no one even rang in to guess."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

- Neil Diamond rules.
- I don't think Rock & Roll refers to a genre or style of music, in this case. I think it's just like, popular music created after rock & roll was created - so they include reggae, hip-hop, soul...
- All these boardroom committee yaggoffs want is for tourists to go to the museum and buy t-shirts. Aside from answering trivia questions I think the HOF is pretty useless.
