The old... But the '68 movie is so good that I'd still like it as much if they looked like the Burton film apes (i.e. "real apes")...

I don't like ANYTHING about the newer ape film, so you know my answer.

I like the 'Animated Series' makeup the best...

Seriously, the live TV series and Original Movie had the best. I caught a few seconds of the Burton movie while in Texas last week, and couldn't switch stations fast enough.

Well, I think that the make-ups in the Tim Burton version are amazing. I think Rick Baker designed those make-ups, the guy is an ape freak, well known for his gorilla suits over many films.
Having said that, the film plain sucks, it's one of Burton's worst.
I grew up with the original films and TV show, and for those reasons, and because those make-ups still look so great, the originals are still my favourites; groundbreaking, expressive make-ups!!

I like the original movie make-up better because it makes the apes look more human -- which is a good thing considering the movie is set in the future and the apes have evolved somewhat.

So, the make-up limits of the time actually helped make it a better more realistic picture.
