    Mad Magazine

Anyone here read MAD as a kid? I used to read it religiously. I just recently got a cd rom with every issue on it. Looking at this really takes me a back to a time when MAD was king in my world. Makes me really miss those days.
I know MAD is still around but I imagine its not the same as it used to be.

Actually they had frontal nudity. At least so I remember when they had a "Take a nude picture of your girlfriend with a bag over her head" contest.

I still have about 100 MAD issues from when I was a kid...classics. Still read them to this day when I have free time. Too bad they started to go downhill around the mid-90s.

I have fond memories of Mad mag.
I especially liked the mini aragonés drawings in the corners of the pages.

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

Those marginals were my favorite, as well!

I always loved Aragonés' stuff because he never hit you over the head with it. Subtle is far more funny to me than slapstick or shock. Some of those took a little while to sink in, but I still laugh my butt off when I think about some of those marginals.

Yeah... the one where spiderman "webbed" Mary Jane to the wall and was walking towards mask off with a slightly sinister smile.. great stuff.

I miss that wonderful "CHEAP!" mag.

Never missed an issue of MAD from the mid-70's to the early 80's but outgrew it.
I recently came across a copy and read it. Was totally unimpressed. Didn't find it very funny. In fact it seemed highly political (way more than it was) with an angry slant instead of tongue-in-cheek.

I was big into Mad around '71 through '73.. I collect some of the more cooler covers now on eBay from the 60s and 70s, to matte/frame. Some of the cover art's quite good.

Great spoofs of Watergate, Nixon, Agnew and Ford, 'All in the Family' (with the little plastic record..), all the stickers and other extras were cool.

I collected a lot of the paperback books, all reprinting the early 60s stuff, even sent away for the Alfred E. Newman 5x7".

My favs were Don Martin, Spy vs Spy and yes, Aragonés stuff.

Like others.., discovering National Lampoon was indeed a step forward for my march towards puberty..

ewwww after seeing that site (what the hell happened) I found everything telling the story on wikipedia. I cannot consider that or the magazine's new directon Cracked. I would consider it in name only but that is it

                            How does one get those?

I would love a Mad CD with every issue..As well as Amazing spiderman etc. How does one acquire those types of CD's when one is computer illiterate?

the official route you can go here for spiderman and such:

                              http://eagleonemedia.com

for some reason I am pretty sure the Mad magazine issues also had an official release (perhaps the magazine's webpage?)

for the rest, mainly torrent sites, but really the scanner scene who scan and upload (usually cover to cover) thousands of magazines and comics on a daily basis and these can usually be found on comic related sites (like komics-live.com) mostly all not exactly legal like
