    Any fans of The Mentalist?

Probably my favorite "can't miss it" show right now. Everything else I will skip an episode or two, but I have been hooked on this show for the past 2 seasons.

It just gets better to me with each episode. Simon Baker is a terrific actor with a great supporting cast.

Are we related somehow? I couldn't agree with you more on both counts. The Mentalist, NCIS and Bones are three shows my family watches together and they get so torqued at me when I figure it out, usually within the first 10 minutes or so. And YEAH, Amanda Righetti is quite gorgeous.

Sometimes I get it figured out, sometimes I don't.

What I love the most is how Patrick will usually have it solved early on but let's it play out to watch everyone else's reactions or to see the bad guy squirm.

SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT SEEN THE SHOW:

The best scene for me came in season 1 - episode 7 I think - at the very end where the lady psychic pulls Patrick into a room and tells him that she has spoken to his dead wife who wants to reassure him that his daughter did not suffer when she died. That was a powerful scene on several different levels.

The whole Red John storyline really intrigues and fascinates me. I know it will be a while before that is resolved, but it is going to be fun to watch it do so.

I love Bones as well. I'm always telling my wife that a show featuring Bones and Patrick Jane would be great.

I like it and watch it semi regularly but I prefer Psych -which the Mentalist ripped off. Yes, Mentalist leans drama with some comedy while Psych is a comedy with some drama but really? a second tv show about a super observant guy who poses at as a psychic who contracts with the police? how is that not a lawsuit? i mean Battlestar galactica had less in common with star wars and lucas successfully sued larson.

Yeah, that was a great ending to an ep. Also liked last season's: Friends of Red John. The laughing on the telephone was a really great ending too. I also like how he mentioned Fangoria Magazine at the murder scene in Ep1, Season 1.

Yeah, Brue, Psych is aware of it and last season they designed their promos to poke fun at The Mentalist-even mentioning the show by name in the promos. Niether network, it seems, is interested in a lawsuit so they just keep turning out new episodes. The difference between these two shows is probably most akin to the differences between Twin Peaks & Northern Exposure or Twin Peaks & X - Files. Some of the biggest mysteries to me are why some TV related lawsuits were never persued. For example:

V resembles Childhood's End but Arthur C. Clarke never sued. (The networks were trying to adapt his book for years, they knew the content).
                  Blue Thunder - Airwolf
                  J. Michael Straczynski claims the TV series's: Star Trek Deep Space 9 and Heroes are stolen from his ideas: Babylon 5 TV series & Shooting Stars novels.

The Mentalist is Psych all grown up (that's how I explain it to my friends who like Psych but don't watch the Mentalist).

The Mentalist is good, but had to do a double take on Life. It's been done here in US for a while. It was a good show that I saw every episode of, but it left too soon. I miss seeing Sarah Shahi every week.

I think the Mentalist annoys me more than Jar Jar Binks.
