What precisely is so 'SHOCKING' about this news? I've read the Potter books, seen the films multiple times, and when I read of Rowling's revelation, I barely shrugged my shoulders. It seems kind of obvious in retrospect, what with Dumbledore never having had a love interest mentioned and basically being asexual for his entire life.

So sorry Mr. Serious pants. I guess the all caps wasn't enough of a hint at sarcasm. I'll make sure to use the emoticons from now on to get the point across. Here, I'll try to re-phrase for you...

to me it almost seems like a cheap way for Rowlings to create controversy over her books. So what if he's gay, it doesn't add or take away from the story, so what's the real point of this outing????

I think the point, from Rowlings' perspective, is that it doesn't change anything. The character still stands as written. The disclosure came about during a Q&A session. Must just be a slow news day
